Chances at Stanford, MIT, Penn, Cornell?

my school doesnt do GPA but i have received all As and A+s in sophomore and junior year. Freshman year i got a B in world history and a B+ in english with As in the rest of my classes. Stanford doesnt use freshman grades anyway right? I'm trying to market myself as sort of a math and science kind of guy.

Rank: 13/577

APs: 5 calc AB, 5 Stat, 4 physics

SAT: 670 CR (will retake, got a 77 on PSAT), 790 Math

Subject Tests: 760 Math 2 (Retake?) 760 Physics

ECs: 3 years XC
3 years Track (indoor/outdoor)
2 years FIRST robotics-finance lead
2 years student senate-student teacher committee head
1 year National French Honor Society
Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity/FIRST/middle school athletics/Rotary club

Honors: AP scholar
Book award winner
high honor roll
probably commended scholar for National Merit,

recommend some business/engineering schools that you think i could get into/should apply to. Also, ill probably take 4/5 APs senior year. Should they be all math and science intensive or should I try to show diversity by taking say AP English? Thanks

anyone? …

bump bump bump

You def need a signiicantly higher CR score for any of those schools sans cornell…

The main problem I see in your application are your EC’s. You don’t really have many (which is fine) but the ones you do have don’t really showcase a specific passion that you may have and the fact that you weren’t involved in many of them for very long doesn’t really help.

Stanford and MIT are pretty huge reaches (but they are for practically everyone)…

If you love Cornell and/or Penn and want to have the best possible chance at either, I’d recommend applying early to either because as of now, I’d consider both Penn and Cornell very realistic reaches (in other words, perfect for Early Decision).

For engineering/business, I’d recommend Columbia SEAS, Lehigh, Washu, UMich and Carnegie Mellon.

Good luck!

No need to retake the math 2 really – it won’t make that much of a difference. That and you should be worrying about your SAT I. Also, if you think you can handle the workload, then take AP English. It can only help your chances.

As mentioned above, your EC’s don’t show a specific passion, though you could try to emphasize your robotics-finance lead.

Also, you’re applying to Penn’s engineering, right? It’d probably be a reach for you at the other Penn schools (high reach for Wharton). Stanford and MIT are definitely high reaches, but, as mentioned, they are for everyone. You should consider ED for Cornell’s engineering – you have a fair chance of getting in.

Yeah, Im not seeing good odds here, sorry.
