My biggest passion is debate. I am team captain for sophomore/junior years already, have qualified for two national competitions, and came in 7th place in the state championship competition. I have over 600 NFL points and am looking to achieve the highest degree possible. I have also won many awards at the regional level, and plan to compete in the National Circuit next year. I plan to focus on debate in my EC sheet/essay on my application.

Also, if you can make any suggestions based on my stats, I'm looking to major in business, law, or economics-related fields. If you have any suggestions on how I can improve to better myself for my application, please let me know. Thanks!

I'd say you're in to all the Florida schools, especially as a FL resident, just write a decent essay.

I'd agree that you're in at the Florida schools, even more so if you do get the SAT higher, but you should be fine as it is. Probably in at BU...Emory and UVA I would say are somewhat reaches, but certainly possible, and HYPS are very hard reaches, pretty much impossible.

Thanks for the input! Yes, I don't even know if I will bother applying to the Ivies, since I have neither the interest nor the finances to attend.

Emory with your legacy looks good. UVA is REALLY hard to get into out of state though.

Thanks. I'm more interested in staying close to home, and will require financial help/scholarship if I go out of state. Bright Futures 100% scholarship is such a good deal that I would probably only go to an out-of-state school on a 75% or 100% scholarship.

Besides that, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can really guarantee my admission into a Florida school? Are my ECs strong enough? Is my class rank acceptable?

Thanks everyone for your responses.

anyone else?

Have you looked at this?

Recent news about FSU's debate team: http://www.comm.fsu.edu/Headlines/20070219-02.php

and: http://forensics.comm.fsu.edu/

I think you have great chances for all except HYPS and UVA, although UVA might even accept you (it's really about the state residency issue). Obviously you're probably in uni now, lol, but out of curiosity where are you enrolled?

New College of Florida-in/match
Florida State University-If you didn't get in, I'd personally call the school and ask if they had been smoking something haha. ESP, with legacy.
Emory University (legacy)-reach but work on those SATs and good shot. Idk how much they weight on legacy but it must mean something
University of Virginia-reach, SO hard for OOS.
University of Florida-in
Boston University-in
HYPS (reach schools)-high reaches
