Chances at Stanford?

I'm a Junior at a highly recognized private high school in the state of Maryland. (white, middle class)

SAT: 2140 (640 CR, 750 Math, 750 Writing)
- I've only taken the SAT once this past December w/o any prep, so will hopefully score higher w/ some studying.
I'm planning on taking the Math II, chemistry, and physics subject tests this spring.

I'm in the most rigorous schedule offered at my high school.

Class rank: 3 out of aprox. 350 students
- All A's with the exception of one B in a freshman history class

GPA: 4.9 (aprox) weighted, 3.93 unweighted

Intended major: (currently) Electrical or computer engineering

Extra-curriculars:
- Freshman soccer (9th)
- Varsity indoor track (9th-present)
- currently have 1 championship (we should win again this year)
- Varsity outdoor track (9th-present)
- 4th fastest mile time for a freshman in the state of Maryland
- Varsity cross country (10th-present)
- Rec basketball (9th + 10th)
- Rec soccer (9th + 10th)
- Leadership Club (10th-present)
- Partners in Prayer (10th-present)
- National Honors Society (10th-present)
- National Spanish Honors Society (10th-present)
- Science Fair (don't know if this matters)
- 9th + 10th, 2nd place as sophomore
- SAD club (11th - present)

As you can see, i run year round so it's a bit difficult to squeeze in more extracurriculars.

If there's anything else i'm missing or you'd like to know, just ask.

SAT is below Stanford’s average (2250) but not significantly. GPA is good. Good subject test scores may also affect chances.

As far as ECs go, most of those won’t be much help except for the running. If you get recruited for running then I’d say good chances. If not, then it’s a major reach. Are you planning on trying to get recruited for running? if you are you should think about contacting a coach at Stanford.

@Laeven Although i could run based on my times, I’m not planning on running in college. Also, if i manage to get my SAT’s up to that 2250 average, would i stand a fair chance?

The problem with your ECs is that they are very spread out and don’t show much depth in anything particular. As far as I can see, you don’t have a single leadership role, therefore, being in so many clubs and sports won’t mean much unless you have significant personal athletic achievements. Freshman sports and rec sports mean absolutely nothing to colleges. In addition, prizes in school sciences have very little value as colleges have no standard to compare them to. Rank and GPA are both great, but SAT should be at least 2300 for Stanford since you don’t seem to have any extraordinary talents or accomplishments. As for your subject test, you should aim for 750 or higher in at least three of them.
