How am I looking? I know it's hard to say without essays or deeper knowledge of my club involvement, but I think these are the major points.

We need unweighted GPA and approx rank (even if it isn’t given). Colleges like Stanford couldn’t care less about your weighted GPA. They expect for you to take the most challenging classes offered.

ACT=33 is plenty good for Stanford and so are your 4.0UW GPA and 3/500 rank. You have interesting ECs and plenty of them. Maybe this summer you can do some research?

I should note that I am a senior in high school! This past summer I spent the first part in Alaska at a Native cultural celebration (Celebration 2012!) and spent the rest studying French language and cultural diversity in Cannes, France for credit.

I honestly have no clue how some people are even getting the opportunity to do research. I would love to, but I don’t even know where to begin. Conducting research in high school is pretty much unheard of where I live. Anyway, I read an interview with Princeton’s head of admissions, and she said that while research experience can help, the school does not expect it because many students simply don’t have the opportunity. Maybe Stanford is similar, but who knows…

Ya, it’s not easy to find someone who wants to have a high school student work on their research. My thought was really that there should be something more academic or intellectual in the list of ECs. But, getting credit in France should fulfill that, especially if it was college credit with college students in the classes.

On a reddit ama, I asked a tufts admission officer about research. He said that while research is prevalent in areas such as Wash DC, it can be very rare in the mid west. Thus, because admission officers cover areas, research impresses more officers more than others.
