Chances at Stanford

I am interested in Stanford, and here are my stats.

I am a high school junior. I took the SAT in the summer going to 11th grade. I got a 2060 (780M, 660W, 620CR). Planning on retaking in Jan 07.

I am in the IB Program.
GPA = 4.8 W
Top 2% of School.

Taking all AP/IB courses this year and next year.

EC's:
No. 1 tennis player in school..on varisty team since 9th grade.
Ranked in the state in top 40 for tennis.
Academic Challenge Team (7th, 8th, 10th, 11th)
NHS
German NHS
Student Council President (8th, 9th, 10th)
200+ hours of Community Service.
Civitans member.
Citizenship Award from Red Cross for Volunteer Efforts.

Try to get recruited for tennis, without it you're EC's aren't nearly strong enough, nor are your scores.

I actually don't agree about your EC's - I think they're fine. Your scores are so-so, but I know people at Stanford with worse. The way to make yourself stand out is...

Show what you love and what you have learned in your essays! Tell a story about an experience that has impacted you, or describe something you are really interested in and why. For example, tell a story about a tennis tourney: go through the feelings of it (do you feel nervous? what are you thinking about? what does winning mean to you?) and what being a talented tennis player has taught you (do you value hard work? do you think people just have pure talent? do you feel comraderie with your teammates?). Just be yourself and let the readers see who you are. Giving a laundry list or vague description of your activities is not exciting at all.
