chances at state schools(not another kid bragging about his transcript)

Well, here is my list of schools i would like to attend in order I will apply to these 4

1) U Delaware
2) James madison
3) temple (safety)
4) rutgers NB

I live in New jersey, though both my parents went to delaware, so I am considered an in-state student.

GPA: 5.5 weighted out of 7.0 (all A's in all AP/H/IB is a 7)
2.8 unweighted
116/456 (slightly above 25%, will get under 25% by the middle of the year)
SAT: 1310 (770M 540V)
projected 520 in writing when i take it(with same scores in V/M)
SAT II: 680 Bio
AP grades: Chem 4
US History 3 (did not take AP class)

also my essay will be subpar, and my recs will be slightly above par( i think)

I've taken all the highest coursed in math/science/ french for 4 years (2 sciences junior year and senior year, 2 maths senior year, no french)

ive taken A(regular) english and history those 4 years ( 3 years history)

my grades have an upward trend (all C's in high classes freshman year to most likely all Bs in high classes junior and senior years)

Activities:
Soccer 3 years (not senior year) (JV captain junior year) (clu team all 4 years)
Boy scouts all throughout high school
science league 2 years
cross country senior year (instead of soccer)
wrestling freshman year
winter track senior year
bowling junior year
some volunteer work senior year

Well, I slacked off alot my first 2 years, and that could cause me not to get into one of those four. Will my junior and senior years pull up my other years?
can my SATs, state residency, and legacy make up for it?
also what about james madison, where i have neither state residency nor legacy

also, can i count on getting into temple?

also i joined alot of activities senior year for fun really(except volunteering) , not for college application, i might not even put some of them on there

Delaware- Accepted
2) James madison- Accepted
3) temple (safety)- Accepted
4) rutgers NB- Rejected

Not accepted at Delaware. Not accepted at JMU, IMHO. GPA too low.

your gpa is low for all of the colleges you are applying to. temple you should be okay with. you should look into some more 'match' schools. if you are looking for within that area, try penn state university park and drexel.

James Madison generally looks for a higher GPA over SAT but i'm not exactly sure....i don't have an excellent understanding of the 7.0 scale. I definetly met a lot of kids from new jersey there over the times i've been there

your gpa is low but you are around the 25%-ile so I'd say OK for Delaware especially with a double legacy.

How come you think your essay will be sub-par? In some cases it could make or break you. Why not spend some time and effort and make it really good? You can post it here on CC and others can make suggestions.

I am not the best writer.

And my bro goes to PSU, and my great uncle was a chem professor there for a while, and he was really good(the American chemical society annual award is named after him, and we have the same last name)

chances?

and everyone ive talked to at drexel says it sucks, and i have legacy there too (my father got his MBA there)
