I'm currently at a community college and I'm looking for some advice to transfer to a top B-school. I'm just starting my sophmore year...

-Stats: 3.99 (14 solid A's and 1 A-)
-SAT 2: 2140 (I took it at the beginning of my freshmen year because I didn't take it in high school)
-I've volunteered more than 600 hours over the last year at the American Red Cross and I'm hoping to hit 1,000 by the time I apply
-Of the only 2 business clubs offered at my school, I'm the VP of the international business club and the Pres of the business club.
-I'll have GREAT recs from at least 2 of my professors.
-I've also been a tutor for micro/macro economics classes at my school

Now here's my problem, in high school I had a 2.3 GPA. I NEVER tried and never came to class but now I'm doing EVERYTHING I can to make up for that. ANY suggestions to improve my chances and cover up my high school transcript more would be VERY appreciated.

Also, one of my professors has offered to get me a job as a financial planner, would this help my chances?

Well, with 14 As and 1 A minus, I don't think you should have trouble at too many schools, but some of the top schools just don't take many people from CCs. My guess is that if they take even one, you should have a good chance--especially if they ask for your SAT scores. That SAT score is good--since it's about the Stern average. (Stern's average is about 1420/1600, which equates to 2130/2400--almost exactly what you scored).

I think you wouldn't have a chance at Wharton or MIT, but other than that you should be able to get into all the business schools.

As far as high school, once you have two years of college behind you, most colleges don't even ask you to submit your high school grades or SAT test scores.

These top business school look for business classes . Now you said that you have 14 a's and 1 a-. This totals up to 15 classes you have taken. So the classes you have taken are general ed classes(math ,science, english)- i guessing all of this correct me if i am wrong. If you do not have business classes such as economics or statistics it will be hard to directly apply to Sterns. Calculus is the key to opening the door. Sterns i know will not consider an application with out calculus. You can apply to NYU with the grades you have but the business school will be difficult

1st summer: Communications 101 (speech class)
1st semester: - Bus Mgt 201, Comp Science 101 , Philosophy 201 , Env Science 201
2nd semester: English 102, Eng 232 (Lit), Pre Calc, Phys 151, Econ 102(Micro), Econ 103 (Macro), Ger 111
2nd summer: Bus 101, ACC 201, Math 132

Now this is what I'm currently taking: Calc, Psc 101, Econ 261 (Statistics), Com 102, ACC 202, Ger 112, Eng 221 (My counselor told me it was the equivalent to expository writing)

I set my schedule to get my associates degree and knock out everything on Stern's list by the end of this semester, I've wanted to go to this school since I started college.
