Chances at succeeding

I'm just going to start by saying that I am an average student. During high school I only took one honors class and I did not take any AP classes. Grade-wise I was an A, B, sometimes C student. I got into Rutgers University after graduating and dropped out after 3 weeks. Whether or not I was capable of taking the classes, I don't know. What I do know is that during my time at Rutgers, I was going through severe anxiety and depression, and I withdrew from all of my classes before I started failing them.

The next semester I went to the local community college and did not do to well their either, same problems, but I still passed. I don't know if I am going to do one or two more semesters at CC, but what I do know is that I definitely want to go back to Rutgers after I prove myself here.

As for what I want to major in, I was thinking about maybe going into a science. The only problem with that is what will grad schools think of me. Reading the forums here has me extremely worried because most people keep saying how grad schools will overlook peoples transcripts if they see that they have spent a year or two in CC. Also the fact that I was never in any AP classes in high school will certainly leave a bad mark.

Have there ever been people in my situation who actually succeeded or is it really pointless.

In my personal opinion, Going to a community college doesn’t stop your admission’s for Grad school at Rutgers. My cousin Jennifer who recently graduated from Rutgers as a food science major went from highschool to CC. She wrote her essay about the stresses in life and comparing herself to a late blooming flower. You definitely have some stuff to work with it’s just honestly how hard your willing to work to get back on the saddle. I wish you luck!

What kinds of grad schools would this hurt my chances of getting into? You said it wouldn’t hurt with Rutgers but what about others?
