Chances at Summer Session?

Hello, I applied to Penn State University Park on September 30th. I originally didn’t check off the summer session option and was told I had gotten into my backup campus, Beaver. I emailed the admissions office back in December and requested to be reevaluated with summer session. I’m assuming this means my application will be evaluated after everyone that applied on 11/30. Although probably slim, what do you think my chances are?

In-state
W & UW GPA: 3.4
AP/Honors: AP Seminar and Honors World History
ACT: 26

Thank you!

What major? It all depends on the college. Freshman profile stats shows the middle 50% have GPAs between 3.55 and 3.97. There’s little to no chance with if you picked a more competitive college. Liberal arts, comm, or DUS maybe. However, I heard DUS was almost full. Personally, I’d stick with 2+2 so you can get your gen eds out of the way and transfer to UP junior year with a strong GPA. PSU is super hard for kids with a 3.55 and above and very high SAT scores. UP sounds exciting and fun, but what good is all that if you can’t leave your room because you are studying all the time AND barely getting by.

I chose DUS. Unfortunately I’ve heard it’s full or close to being full.

Who said DUS is full or close to being full–PSU admissions counselor ? My son just recently changed to DUS summer after being rejected to College of Business at UP.

We can only guess exactly how few spots are left, but it is common sense that it’s going to be harder now that so many students have already been admitted to DUS. Reconsiderations are not at the front of the line.
