Hi, I am a 10th grade student from Northern California. I am applying to boarding schools as a repeat sophomore for the fall of 2013. I am casting a broad net, and will be applying to: Andover, Deerfield, Choate, SPS, NMH, Kent, Taft, Loomis, and Milton. I play extremely competitive hockey, and have spoken with all of the coaches at the schools I am applying to. I play JV lacrosse as well. I do community service work, and will have 60 hours by the end of the school year. I work with elementary school kids in East Oakland, that will give me 50 hours. Plus I volunteered at a dementia center will elderly citizens suffering from dementia for 10 hours. My father passed away 4 years ago, so I went through a bit of a dark period, where everything in my life suffered, especially school. Anyway, My overall freshman gpa was 3.38, I know, very low. This semester I will finish with a 3.67. I have interviewed with all the schools except for Andover, and have done extremely well. I am a very friendly, talkative, and nice person (not to sound cocky). My teacher recommendations will be good, and so will my school counselor rec. I will be taking the SSAT on Dec. 8, and have been studying quite a bit. I will take it again in January if I do poorly. I will be applying for F/A as well.
CHANCE ME!! THANKS

On a practice SSAT
I got a 19/25 on Math
34/60 on vocabulary
36/40 on reading
19/25 on math again
can anybody calculate my score, or percentile.
I am going to study vocab A LOT, and math too.
I am taking the real SSAT on January 5

Nick:Top notch ice hockey players are sought after by many Northeast US boarding schools & prep day schools. Your willingness to repeat a grade will help. Just relax & don’t get too stressed out over the standardized tests. Good luck !

Anybody else? Anything would help!!

I think that you are aplicable, but what most affects your chances regarding being accepted or not, is you, your interests, etc.I mean I’m just saying what I think. I retook my ssat on dec. 8 and am applying to HADES.

nik, how many did you get wrong for each section? they subtract one fourth of a pt for each one wrong so i need this to help you calculate your percentile. don’t worry too much about your score. anything above a 70th percentile looks fantastic with your sports

Thanks, for the imput. @turks12345 good luck with your application to HADES.
@Bound4Harvard I just took my SSAT December 8th and think I did much better than on my practice test. I did the subtract 1/4th for every answer wrong, and according to my SSAT book it would be about the 78th percentile.

that’s actually a really good percentile! I hope you get into all of the schools you applied for!

Just to follow up I got 70th percentile on the SSAT
