I’m a senior with a 3.54 weighted GPA, 24 on the ACT, and 1140 on the SAT (1600). I will have taken 8 AP Classes in total when I graduate and I am in the top quartile at my school. I am planning on majoring in Biology.
If that’s your weighted GPA, I can tell you it’s most likely going to be a decline for both schools. UT Austin and A&M go off of the unweighted GPA. The SAT scores are also below the average for both schools. If your unweighted GPA is above a 3.0, you should get into Texas State and UTSA without any problems. UTEP is an open enrollment school. U of H and Texas Tech would likely be a reach, but certainly possible.
@coolguy40 I was under the impression that UT and A&M don’t consider GPA at all, only class rank (which is of course based off of GPA, but they don’t look at your GPA itself). At least that’s what they told me when I called them and asked last semester. It may be different for major consideration, but not admission into the university itself.
Naviance SAT 25%, 50%, 75%
Texas A&M 1180, 1290, 1390
UTexas Austin 1200, 1325, 1440
3 most important threshold to overcome.
- SAT/ACT scores 1390/33(or least 75th percentile)
- GPA and Class Ranking near the top
- Rigor classes = AP classes for Junior & Senior Year
- Yes; meet all 3 threshold - 75% chances to get accepted
- No; 50/50 chances.
