Chances at the Ivies and others?

My chances to Brown, Emory, Dartmouth, Georgetown and Cornell. I'm REALLY looking toward Brown, which I visited and love.

White Female from South Florida.

My HS is the biggest HS in FL, public, with great scores and great academics. We are on an 8 semester block schedule that limits class selections- each AP is two of 8 blocks. Guidance counselors rec. isn't amazing, but teacher rec.'s are.

My EC's are not outstanding, but Best Buddies is most important to me/most hours spent. No sports.

Summers:
2005- Volunteer counselor at a non profit sleep away summer camp. 600+ community service hours.
2006- Program learning Italian in Southern Italy
2007- Program learning Spanish in Southern Spain

Fluent in Spanish, I can speak French with poor grammar.

Nothing really special about me, aunt and uncle legacy to Emory although I doubt that would help.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out- your input is GREATLY appreciated.

I think you have great scores. Brown is highly selective, but you definitely have a chance. Good luck!

Thanks! Anyone else?

Your CR score might hurt you a wee bit, but I think if you write a good essay, you might be fine. Good luck! :)

P.S. Holy moly, your HS is huge!

Brown: High Reach
Emory: High Match
Dartmouth: High Reach
Georgetown: Slight Reach
Cornell: Reach

I think Brown and Dartmouth will be tough because of the SAT, but you never know! If I were you I would also consider Tufts, Middlebury, Vassar, and some others to beef up the high match category.

Thanks for all of your input! I know the CR isn't great, but I am basically going on my ACT's. . .

Our school is offically the biggest in the country! Its super competitive, but I really like it.

I was considering those schools, esp. Tufts, but for one reason or another kept crossing them off of my list. Now I just have to wait until April. . .

the scores could be a little better, but a kickass essay could land you a seat in Brown....

example of a nice essay: my friend was a former Crip member, doing all kinds of bad stuff, but one day he decided to change his ways and created a program in his community to help the kids from joining gangs and promoting self-improvement. yea, he wrote about that, he had similar stats, and hes currently at friggin Duke.....

the Essay can either MAKE or BREAK you

despite not having any sports and sticking to the academics, i like ur extracurriculars........

btw, Brown is great in that they dont require you to take unecessary classes, unlike the rest of the universities in America. that oughta motivate you....
