Very interested in Harvard and Columbia, but would love to get feedback on chances at any ivies. THANKS!

Wow, nice work. I'm not a professional of any kind, and am in fact a high school student wanting to get into an ivy league myself (no competitive feelings though). From what I see, you have quite a high chance of getting into an Ivy league school. Your SAT score is high, your extra-curricular involvement is thumbs up, and your g.p.a (as it is unweighted) is also good.

Considering your school connections AND your stats, if you were to apply EA to Harvard I would call it a shoe-in. But then again, nobody has a shoe-in at Harvard ever...so still write an awesome essay and work for it, of course.

just saying that i have no asian background so studying chinese might be considered something that stands out.
(my dad's british - i have dual citizenship - and my mom is jewish)

holy cow! you've got a good chance at ivys :)

Being a non-asian who speaks chinese in very unique. It could make a very good essay.
I think that you have a pretty good shot at the ivies. You should get into at least one and might get into HYP.

I never understand why people from high schools where many go ivy post here. There is no way the average kid here has a clue compared to the information your school can give you. Your counseling office has it so broken down that other than for HYPMSCAW and a few others, they can make a damn good guess of exactly where you'll get in. And they can take a great guess at those too if your college counselor is seasoned.

and also, i agree with suze. Your school sends many kids to Ivies, So why are you asking us? Ask your counseling office. They probably have a very good idea of what it takes to be admitted to an Ivy from your school.

p.s. why are you interested in just ivies? there are other good schools you seem like a fit for (stanford, duke, uchicago)

just curious. How good at chinese are you? Is this Chinese competition open to Chinese people or just non chinese? It would be quite impressive if this was against native speakers, even though not all "native speakers" are good at chinese ( i only learned a little when I was small).

I would say you are in awesome shape. Harvard and Yale alone took twelve kids from your school last year and you are ranked #2 and have all around great credentials.

mind pming me those chinese poems? i'm kind of curious. love the culinary talents, btw! ;) i'm a big fan of the kitchen myself.

good luck, i second the opinions of everyone here - you have the materials lined up and the connections are going to take you far. i agree with you, harvard is probably a very good fit. your passions are also diverse (not the typical piano prodigy), which wins you brownie points. n_n

dont post on CC. your counsellors will tell you better things and you are in the best shape you can be in to get into the top schools in the country.
