Chances at the School of Arts and Sciences

Hey guys, im an Indian student studying in Singapore and im very keen on applying to the SAS through ED. My preferred major is Math/Econs and i need a rough idea about my chances of making it in. Please be as frank and honest as possible and thanks a lot for your time.

SAT 1 old: 1480 (M: 780, V: 700)
SAT 1 new: 2280 (M: 780, W: 750, CR: 750)
Havent gotten back SAT 2 yet but i think it went well
For my prelim exams, I got 4 As (I take A levels) and B+ for General Paper (English) and my 2 Special Papers were Distinctions. My high school teacher-advisor said that the A levels compare to AP exams and Special Papers compare to the Honors programme. I hope that helps.

From 2002-2003
Cricket- National 3rd

From 2004-2005
Singapore Youth Festival (Drama) - Gold and National 2nd
3 other major school-based drama productions
Performed at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (one of the best arts colleges in the region) for their graduation ceremony

Singapore Chemistry Olympiad - Gold (national 6th or 7th)
Finalist for International Chemistry Olympiad selection and training
Came into the top 8 for an Invitational Chemistry Olympiad amongst 50+ chemistry undergraduate students

Thinkquest International Website Building Competition (organized by Oracle)- First for age-group, best of Open category and overall champion. We were invited for a 4 night stay at San Fran and attended a global conference where we met lots of CEOs and cool technocrats (pardon the expression).

Participated in an exclusive Maths Enrichment Camp for 18 students throughout Singapore

High School Library Quiz – 1st

National Design with Graphic Calculators Competition-10th

Inter- House Floorball tournament – 1st

In addition to this I have screenplayed and acted in a movie for the Canonfest Awards, done a lot of public relations related community service, attended and contributed at a number of Scientific and Mathematical lectures and conferences and have spent many hours doing mathematics tutoring. I have also done MC-ing for Indian cultural programmes and acted in quite a number of their dramas.

Thanks again for your time.

What were your GCSEs grades like?

Well we dont do GCSEs, we do GCEs. Im not exactly sure whats the diffrence but i think GCE is harder. My A level exams are next month but my predicted results are the same as my prelim results. My Grade 10 exam grades (O levels) are as follows, though im not sure whether it makes a difference to my application.

English A1
Biology A1
Mathematics A1
Additional Mathematics A1
Physics A2
Chemistry A2
History/Social Studies A2
Bengali B3

GCSEs = O Levels
GCEs = AS/A2 (A Level)

I talked to the international admissions officers and she indicated that you should include your GCSE (O Level grades), and I know from previous experience people in my school have given thier GCSE transcripts in their applications.

Oh okay. Sorry i forgot that i already did my GCSEs. But yeah, there are my O level results. So what do you think of my chances at the SAS for my preferred major and with ED?
