Gpa is a little low for some of those schools. Sat is good though, I’d say u should get in psu, rutgers, babson, nj but Cornell, gtown and Mellon are reaches. Other schools u have a decent chance in getting in.

Does the Cornell University Summer College I attended and applying Early Decision help my chances at Cornell even though my scores just meet the 25th percentile of all scores?

^not really, no.

To be frank, your GPA isn’t great and your SAT’s will not help at the top colleges. Your low class rank confirms that you either took comparatively easy classes or your GPA is low.

I think you have a good chance at Villanova, TCNJ, Rutgers, Babson, PSU. It will be harder to get into BC. Your chances are small as OOS for Michigan and UNC, because UNC is extremely hard to get into as OOS and at Michigan your UW GPA will really hurt. Slim chances at G-town and CMU and very slim chance at Cornell.

Sorry, that’s just the nature of competing for acceptance at highly competitive colleges these days. You’re an intelligent kid and clearly motivated.

Thank you for being frank. I do not want any of the sugar-coating nonsense.

Also, regarding my GPA and course load, I have challenged myself by taking 9 honors and 4 AP classes (that is including this year, my senior year). So I didn’t necessarily take all easy classes. However, you’re right to assume that I did struggle in some of those classes and I did not take the most rigorous curriculum available. The average top student in my class, ranked 30 or higher out of 275 students, usually takes 5-6 APs and 11 honors. Therefore, would such ECs like soccer captain/varsity soccer account for the less rigorous classes I have taken? I’m not sure, please clarify this.

bumppppppp…anyone???

Admissions are holistic. However, just so your aware, there are many 4.0 GPA/2400 SAT students who have plenty of extracurricular commitments.

More thoughts on my chances? Anyone?

bumppppppppppppppp

Responses? bump again. Feedback is appreciated

how many times do I have to bump this thing lol? Come on guys raise the roooof!

Look like you have a lot of leadership that may help you a lot in this process. I say you have a fairly good shot at your choices. Also, applying ED does help.

bump. What do you guys think?

bump bump bump bump bump…

bumppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

bumpityyy bump bump

OP, you state that you are an undergraduate student…? i assume you meant to say you are a HS student.

Cornell Dyson is a reach (are you applying to Dyson?). applying ED does help tremendously (and the fact that you attended Cornell Summer College), but even so, your GPA and scores are on the low side. i would focus on your ECs and, if you want, how your passion for some of your ECs or sports would translate to being a good leader in business. im a bit confused as to when you are applying / will be applying. if you have already applied ED, then there is no use looking at chances – just hope for the best and relax!

i dont know enough about some of the programs to comment, but for the rest of your list:
Boston College - Low Match
University of Michigan - Reach out of state
Boston University - Low Reach
UNC Chapel Hill - Low Reach out of state
Georgetown Univeristy - Mid Reach

good luck!

Thank you for your feedback! I really appreciate you taking time to offer your thoughts. To clarify, yes, I am a high school student (duh! haha, that was my bad). I also did apply to Dyson under the binding early decision. Even though I have already submitted my application, I’m still feeling nervous. I applied there as my reach school, and I am praying that I get in. In addition, I wanted to tell you that in my supplement, I wrote about one specific lesson I learned from the teacher at Cornell University Summer College. Within essay, I briefly mentioned some ECs that were relevant. Would that help my chances?
