I know I am lacking on ECs and my stats are not extremely impressive, but I made the best I could with limited resources at my school. Do I have any chances of getting in at these schools, or any other school ideas?

I have you have a great chance at all of them but Stanford would definitely be a reach school for you.

Chance me back?

Thanks! Yea I know Stanford’s a stretch obviously, but I want to apply to at least one really out there school.

Anyone else?

USC - High Match
UNC - If you’re in-state its a match. If not, its a reach/high match.
George Washington - Low match
Carnegie Mellon - Reach
Stanford - Super reach

First things first - hows your rank? If its in the top 10%, then your GPA is good. If not, then its just decent for this caliber of school, and in context of your SAT/ECs.

Your SAT is good, but it could be higher.

EC’s are your weakest part. They’re just average (and for schools like Stanford, possibly below average). If it really was due to not having opportunities for much at your school, you need to get that across to the schools. However, you could have done something outside of school.

Best of luck.

My rank is 3 out of 122. Like I said, that was the first time I took the SAT and I fully plan on raising my score. And I agree, my ECs are weak, I know I could have done more outside of school but the ones I have (particularly Varsity Cheerleading) took up most of my time (August-March, 3-6 days a week). I need to find a way to let the schools know that.

Wow, you’re rank is awesome! That clears up the GPA problem, and makes it your biggest strength. Also, if you can raise you’re SAT to a 2250 or so, that’d be great. Make sure you talk about cheerleading and how you devote so much time to it, and with good recs and great essays, I think you may have a chance even at Stanford.

Thanks. That’s my hope for the SAT.

And I knew I forgot some ECs:

National Honor Society
Spanish National Honor Society

Your grades and rank look really good, though not taking the hardest classes possible will probably hurt you a little bit, at least at Stanford. (I’m in the same boat. D: ) I think your ECs are better than you think, and, yeah, if you discussed what you learned from your many hours spent on cheerleading, that time would seem very well spent. I’m sure with practice you could raise your SAT score, don’t worry! And, I’d generally agree with the match/reach ratings that pixels posted.
Chance me back?

Yea, I’m going to use the short answer on the Common App to discuss cheerleading, thanks for that idea

bump… anyone else??
