Chances at these schools with a 3.00 weighted GPA?

sort of comforting...thanks

honestly, i think you can make it into stanford.

^ so you think it's obvious I'll get rejected by all?

So I'm basically screwed. Correcting the mistake is pointless because the damage is already done -- my colleges have already seen the bad grades.

I strongly disagree! You must insist the "transcript lady" correct the error and send a new one stating the previous transcript was miscalculated and sent in error. Colleges are not looking to trip you up--they want to see the grades you earned. Earning them by taking the initiative to retake them onliine may even be viewed as a plus!

^ But they already know I've retaken them online. It shows the classes I retook on the bottom of my transcript.

There's really nothing I can do.

Yes, they know you've retaken them online. So what? Colleges universally say they will use your highest test scores, why would they not use a legitimately corrected gpa when considering your application? They may recalculate your gpa using the retake grades anyway, but you should definitely push for a recalculation from your guidance office, particularly if that's what you were told would happen. Why'd you bother to retake if you're going accept omission of the new grades? It's not as if you did something dishonest or sneaky; you retook classes in which you were unhappy with your grades--or maybe even your level of understanding. A kid who does that is a bit more proactive than the average kid. Take some credit. Just go into the guidance office and tell them you think they miscalculated your gpa by leaving out your retaken classes and let the conversation continue from there and get the transcripts re-sent. You should also ask if that would have affected your class rank (if your school ranks) and make sure your transcript reflects that change too--it could be the difference between deciles.

ok, lol, youve convinced me to get it corrected.

nah you'll make it to these. i never heard of them.

Colleges use gpa to see how hard you try, class rank is used to see if you excel in context of your school, SAT/ACT is to see how smart you are (though I feel it to be slightly flawed).

Obviously they see you as smart, and the fact that they can see you retook the classes online will help you. It may not be as good as having them count as As, but it's not as bad as you made it out to be. I'm sure you'll get into at least 1.

I would take this to the principal of your school if i were you, i would make sure your transcript lady and your conselor have a clear understanding of what you were told when you took the online classes, this would clear up a **** load of mess if you do this trust me. The chances right now for most of them is reach. Don't be scared to go after the school, remember it is your life not theirs.
