I really love aviation and hope to get my pilot's license.
My essay is about my fascination with aviation, but my georgetown one was about building 3D puzzles

I'd be surprised if you didn't land one or more out of Georgetown, Duke, Penn, Dartmouth (looks good). Stanford's a reach for everyone...best of luck!

OK, I'll bite. Your stats are a mixed bag. SATs not so good. SATIIs OK. ACTs better. Class rank and GPA good. ECs OK but not great. I'd say Duke, Penn, Stanford, Dartmouth, and Rice will probably reject you. These schools get lots of applicants with superlative qualifications and realistically, compared to many who apply to these schools, yours are only so-so. Claremont Mckenna, USC, and the state school will probably accept.

If I get into Duke I would be sooooooooo happy. It's probably my number one (besides Stanford), but I didn't apply ED, since I need to retake some tests. I loved the campus when I visited and have always loved the school. I think my Why Duke? is my best essay, and I really poured my heart into it. I hope that helps. It's also a bit creative... and really connects to the school.

Batman32c: how come Duke and Dartmouth are only slight reaches? The only problem with Dartmouth, and Claremont is that a lot of peeps from my school are applying. Dartmouth, probably around 10, with one recruited athlete, and about two people with higher scores (except SAT II's), but one with less EC's.

I've called most of my upper tier schools and they will accept January SAT testing. I'm going to retake it, especially concentrating on perfecting math and bring cr above that magic 700 mark!

par72: I've applied to and been accepted to University of Oregon and University of Oregon Honors College. My parents will only pay for out of state college if the education is much better than U of O, and I'm in somewhat of an agreement with this notion, so that's why I don't really have any out of state safeties, although I think I'll get in USC, which I really liked when I visited.
