<p>Rising Senior so College is quite important right now. Here are some Credentials:
Unweighted GPA: 3.97
Weighted GPA: 4.52
Class Rank: 19/310 (Hopefully It will improve since I dropped Orchestra and took AP Stats)
Rigor of Classes: All possible Honors/AP/IB Classes I could fit into my schedule
ACT: 29 (31 English, 33 Math, 26 Reading, 25 Science.) (Probably gonna retake one last time before I apply)
Senior Schedule: IB English, IB Biology, IB Spanish 5, IB/AP Calc, AP Stats, IB Business, Theory of Knowledge (Required IB Class)
IB Diploma Candidate (Already got a 7 on IB 20th SL exam)
Have a couple of teachers that could write me great recomendations since I've had them for a while, and I really enjoy the subjects they teach, so they know I really pay attention and try to learn the subject in greater depth (Bio/Really Any Science and Math)
National Honor Society
Going into 4 years of Cross Country and Track
Volunteer at Local YMCA to help tennis coaches (helping instruct, collect balls, demenstrations, etc)
Help Tutor Young kids at local church Chinese on Friday nights during the school year
Volunteer at local races
Help out at my parents restaurant (probably not a noteworthy EC)</p>

<p>Schools that I would like to attend are Johns Hopkins, UMich (in state), UChicago, and probably Duke. I would also love to attend an Ivy League school, preferably Yale, and Stanford, but being realistic, I'm probably not going to be accepted...
I really dont know what i would like to major in, but im leaning towards Biology and something in the medical field because i really enjoy biology and would love to study the subject in greater depth, and with a biology major, it could help me in the medical field.
I fear that i may not have enough EC, or they dont stand out. Also, I dont think my ACT score is high enough and that might get me rejected...
Also, any tips on the ACT reading and science sections would be very appreciated, as those are my lowest scores and I know I can easily raise my English and math scores if I just take the test a bit slower and review a bit. But usually the science and reading are my downfall...</p>

<p>You may have a pretty good chance at Michigan, as they really emphasize GPA. Your test scores may be low for the other schools, but I will tell you that my son got into JHU, Michigan, and WUSTL with an ACT of 30 (he will be starting at WUSTL this fall). It’s so hard to predict what a school looks for each particular year. What impresses a school one year may not be what they look for the next year that being said, it’s always a crapshoot with highly competitive schools.</p>

<p>As for your EC- don’t discount the value of working in your parents restaurant I personally think it means a lot more than NHS, which is a very generic activity. You may even find some experience in the restaurant to write about in an essay. Sometimes the most mundane topic (to you) may really impress a reader,</p>
