Hi,

I question whether I am qualfied for a top program but after reading posts that admissions officers focus more on work experience and leadership qualities, I feel I might be. Could you provide insight?

In my undergrad as a Finance major with Accounting minor, I had a 3.316 GPA overall, 3.778 in my major and scored a 660 on the GMAT. I have a finance/accounting job with a fortune 300 company and completed a highly respected accounting training program with them. My company covered all my expenses during the 6 month training program (housing, rental car, gas, food) and because of my performance so far, they have agreed to 100% fund a part time mba, but I would like to attempt to get into a top 10 full time program. In my full time experience, I have led continous improvement events, team meetings every morning, and have traveled to 5 different divisions of the company and completed various other leadership tasks such as taking over for our accounting manager when she quit (she had 10 years of work experience and a MBA) and training a new accountant that was recently hired. I will only have 2 years of full time experience in January but have already been given promotion offers as well.

In college, I was an officer in two organizations that were well respected at the University and have other accomplishments in my personal life (climbed 14 ft mountain, etc)

I thought I would not qualify for a top 10 school because my gpa and gmat are below their averages, but if they look more at leadership qualities and work experience, maybe I have a chance. What do you think?
