Numbers are decent but not great. 3.75 unweighted means 1/4 of your grades are B's. I guess it depents on what school you go to and their relative grade inflation/deflation. 1380 SAT is also decent, but you may need to immprove that to increase your chances. You also have decent extracurriculars and your research at UCLA should help you. I'd say you may have a decent chance at getting into a couple top 25 schools as reaches, but don't be too sure of it. Definitely find some matches and safeties that you would like.

Misspelling principal on an application would be a bad idea.
Your best chances would be at Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago, Vanderbilt, Carnegie Mellon, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, University of Virginia, and UCLA. All are between a match and a slight/medium reach.

zh0u:

UCB: Slight Reach
UCLA: Slight Reach

lets say i take the SATs in October and get a 2150-2200

how much would that benefit me?

i think the 790 and 760 might be kinda helpful..

oh yea and i'm national merit commended with a score of 210

i was hoping for UCLA/UCB for #1 choices in my home state

otherwise i was hoping to get into carnegie, chicago, or st. louis.

o_O

UCLA & Berkeley are both slight reaches. A 2200+ would probably bring UCLA to a match, but Berkeley will prob. remain a slight reach. With your 2060 or 2200, you could still be admitted to one or both.

cool thanks. Also, my project at UCLA with various professors WILL or WON'T help me get into UCLA or other UCs?

It will help, but no one on here can tell you how much. :)

CRAP i keep forgetting to add stuff ..

i also hold a part-time job in the management department of a worldwide laboratory company (environmental engineering stuff) .. hundreds and thousands of employees. i dunno if this will help me in the science field.

Much better chance at the top UCs than top 20 privates.

any other opinions? o_O

Please? =]

If you're instate, I think you're a very comfortable match (with the projected improved SAT, maybe even safety) for UCB and UCLA.

zh0u is in-state; it says so in the "Location" field.

FLOPSY UR FROM UCLA?! and u have 1337 posts if u reply to this 8)
