Chances at Top LACs?

I'm applying to:
Carleton - ED II, my absolute top choice/dream school
Wesleyan
Grinnell
Middlebury
Macelester
UChicago
Austin College - accepted

Academics:
Ranked 196/727
GPA is 3.something (not sure :O )
I've taken pretty much every AP/advanced course available to me, with the exception of last year in science/math, I took regular pre-cal and physics.
The scary thing is: I failed Chem. I'm working on an essay explaining the circumstances (not that extenuating, but it was a mistake and not a reflection of my learning ability and I learned a lot from it.)
Otherwise, though, I go to a rigorous public high school, and I'm taking two languages, both of which I consistently do very well in. I took 1 1/2yrs of Arabic and then started German half-way through the year last year, a choice I've explained in interviews at my top choices.

Tests:
SAT = 2290: 730CR/770M/790W.
For SAT IIs, I did Lit and got 770 and Spanish Lang with Listening and got 790
ACT = 32: 33 English/29 Math/36 Reading/31 Science/32 Combined English+Writing
For APs, I've taken World History, English Language, Spanish Language, US History AP tests and gotten 5s on all of them.
This year, I'm taking AP Stats, AP Spanish Lit, AP English Lit, AP Gov and AP Macro Economics

ECs:
Lived/volunteered for 8 weeks in rural Nicaragua
Involvement in the stateside training aspect of that same program for the past two years, and have progressed in the leadership ranks
I'm on my school's award-winning yearbook staff, first as a staffer last year and now, this year I am a section editor
I've been VP of my school's GSA for the past two years and a member the year before that. I wrote my "expand on one of your EC" essay for the common app about the other officers and myself rebuilding the GSA when we were elected.
I worked on a work crew/as a counselor at a summer camp this summer.
Historian of German Club - last year I was just a member.
Senior Rep of Spanish NHS - been a member since induction sophomore year.
Independently, I tutor friends/peers in Pre-Cal, Stats, and German.
Otherwise, I'm a member of the German NHS (just inducted this year: I'm in German 2) and the regular NHS and I have a couple other short volunteering activities.

Awards:
National Merit Semi-Finalist
AP Scholar
Scholastic Writing Awards Regional Gold-Key for Short Story Writing, once in 10th and once in 11th.
Scholastic Writing Awards National Gold Medal for Short Story Writing, 10th
Gold Award on the National Spanish Exam 10th grade
1st in a regional Spanish competition
2nd-6th place on several different categories on a German competition, both regionally and on the state level

For recs, one of them is being written by my English teacher from last year, for whom I am a TA this year, and who is also the sponsor of the GSA - she is known for writing great recs and I like to think she knows me as well as any of my teachers do. The other is being written by my German teacher, in whose class I do very well (I've been in it since last January). I think he knows me pretty well also and will probably write a pretty good rec.
My counselor knows and likes me and I filled out my school's required brag sheet to let her know more about me.

As far as essays go, those who have read them tell me that they're good/reflective of my personality.

Do I stand a chance?

Anyone? I’m interested in brutal honesty - just curious. :)

Its hard to say without knowing what your GPA is. I mean, your tests and ec’s are great, but i can’t say cause i dont know your GPA.

I’m thinking it’s probably… 3.587…if I remember correctly. I lost the sheet they gave me, and finding out anything about your record is like pulling teeth at my school, so I never found out specifically. I am a pretty solidly A/B student.

I think Carleton, Middlebury and Chicago are major reaches for you (especially Chicago). You are not in the top 25% of your class. (Look at the common data set for each school.) For Macalester, Grinnell and Wesleyan, you are match/reach. A lot depends on what’s going on with that F in Chem - and how compelling your essays and letters of rec are in addressing the issue.
