Hi there! I want some outside opinions from all you CCers on my chances at getting into the top Florida universities. I’m a starting my senior year in a few weeks and college is heavy on my mind. Here’s my entire academic history:
I’m in my school’s APC Program, which is the most academically rigorous program available.

APC English 1
APC Geometry

World History Honors
Algebra 2 Honors(taken through FLVS)
10th Grade:
AP European History(earned a 4 on the exam)
AP Biology(earned a 4 on the exam)
AP Psychology(earned a 5 on the exam)
APC English 2

AFJROTC 2
11th Grade:
AP Calculus AB(earned a 3 on the exam)
AP Physics 1(earned a 3 on the exam)
AP United States History(earned a 4 on the exam)
AP English Language and Composition(earned a 5 on the exam)
Pharmacy Technician Training Class(a dual enrollment course I took at a vocational school, counts for all 3 of my electives, upon completion I would be certified as a pharmacy technician in the state of Florida)
12th Grade(planned classes):
AP Calculus BC
AP Literature
AP United States Government and Politics(one semester)
AP Macroeconomics(one semester)
Chemistry Honors
Pharmacy Technician Training Class(only the first semester, I’ll be finished with it by then)
For the second semester of my senior year, there’s not many options I have in terms of classes. I’ll probably go with all the honors single-semester classes I can take(3).
Now, a little background about myself. I’ve run cross country my sophomore and junior year, JV. In my junior year, I helped found our school’s ultimate frisbee club, and for my senior year I am a leading officer in the club. I am a member of the National Beta Club, and I have a long history of volunteering. I volunteered for my school’s AFJROTC program during my freshman year. I helped out at a local elementary school for most of my sophomore year, and I took an active role in volunteering for Beta Club my junior year. All told, I have over 200 community service hours logged. My PSAT was nothing special, just a 204. I’ve taken the SAT twice, I got a 2050 the first time and a 2080 the second time. Superscored, it would be a 2130. In terms of GPA, I have a 3.9 unweighted and 5.1 weighted. I’ve only gotten 3 B’s in my entire high school career, in AP Euro, Algebra 2 Online(it was tough to keep up with it and my courseload freshman year), and in one segment of my Pharmacy Technician class. I’m ranked 17th in my class of 793, although that’s bound to change once class ranks are recalculated at the beginning of senior year. I’ve been told by the assistant principal that as it stands now, I’m one of the prime choices for salutatorian. I won a national award in the AFJROTC program, although I don’t think it’s anything too special. I have 100 hours of work experience from Walgreen’s, as part of my Pharmacy Technician Training Class. By the second semester of my senior year, I’ll have 300 hours total in work experience from Walgreen’s.
In terms of colleges, I’m looking at UF, FSU, UCF, USF, and maybe University of Miami. NYU would be my dream school, but unfortunately my parents don’t have the money for that. I’m a twin, and they have two college funds to worry about. Only my dad works, and his annual income to support a family of 4 is around $60,000. My dad has a bachelor’s degree, and my mom didn’t go to college. I’ve met all the requirements for Bright Futures, so I’ll most likely stay in Florida to take advantage of that. I plan on majoring in Biomedical Sciences and taking the pre-med track. UF has a 7-year MD program that I’m interested in as well.
If you’ve made it this far, I’d like to thank you for sticking with it and reading about my incredibly boring life. What do you think my chances are at getting into those schools and programs I’ve mentioned? Also, do you think I’ll get much in the way of financial aid?
