Chances at top schools like MIT and Stanford

Completely disagree. AP Scholar and NMC are fairly easy accomplishments (AP Scholar more so than NMC, but NMC easy nonetheless). I’m not trying to rain on this parade, but the only AP award that’s impressive is AP National Scholar, as it requires the student to have taken a total of eight APs and scored 4s and 5s on all by the end of junior year. NMC is also fairly typical; if the mean SAT is around 2200 for top schools like Stanford and MIT, nearly all would have been NMC, and many NMS/NMF.
