Chances At Top Schools

I think you’ll be fine with Berkely and Cal Tech, MIT is a low reach, high match and Harvard and Stanford is unpredictable. My friend got into Stanford and rejected at MIT, WUSTL, and other lower ranked, but amazing colleges. You should also try to get more awards (if possible) although it is amazing all the books you’ve read. Definitely talk about that in your essays! But you are a strong applicant, along with the hundreds of other amazing strong applicants. Good luck :)

Thank-you. I will definitely mention my self-studying in the essays and the interview.

I didn’t read all the previous comments on this, but I would for sure say you have good chances at all of these schools (comparatively good…obviously a lot of them are reaches). What stands out to me is two things: your love of computers, and skills at math/sciences. This would probably speak a lot more to MIT than to Harvard (although I don’t really know for sure), but you should definitely try to incorporate those passions into your application.

also, I’m sure you’ve considered Carnegie Mellon? Great location in the city, and easier to get into than MIT

@soccerlover17
Thank-you. I will definitely write and talk about what I enjoy doing on my essay and interview respectively. Carnegie Mellon is one of the schools I am considering as well.

Wow you have some serious test scores.
UCB match
MIT, Caltech- low reach
Stanford, Harvard- mid-high reach

Thank-you. I hope your predictions are at least party true. :slight_smile:

Talk about over-coming your physical disabilities, that’s is a hook and your interest in Maths will be well recieved

@Jssaab1‌
Thanks for replying. The physical disability did have a profound negative impact on my life (albeit the disability being fairly mild), so I shall definitely mention my attempt to overcome in during the interview and the essay (I will keep it brief, of course, since there is a limit to both of them - time and word count respectively). Math is the subject I most enjoy, but I have a deep passion for the sciences (and the electrical engineering I have done so far).

Bump. I would like to hear a few other people’s opinion as well. Thanks.

I think you have a good chance at UCB, but the rest are reaches for everyone (even with such amazing stats as you have!). Consider CM.

Don’t trust everything you see here. There are also a bunch of high school kids responding here and don’t really know what they are talking about. Particularly those have even short experience than you on this forum.

Pretty outstanding test scores, especially SAT II, your GPA is excellent and you have a ton of great EC’s… but the Ivies and schools like MIT and CalTech are never for sure. I think you won’t have a problem with UCB, and you will most likely get into at least one of the more competitive schools (like the Ivies or MIT or Stanford, etc…)

Love your username btw

@d0texe‌
Thanks. I hope to get into UCB at least - if I don’t get accepted to MIT or CalTech, I will likely go there.

Definetly a strong competitor at all these schools, although, your EC’s seem to be very focused on just one route. You should try and show your more diverse with you extracurriculars, maybe do stuff other than programming?
Please chance me here! :

I was rejected from all the “top” US schools I applied to. I was accepted to the 2 universities I applied to just in case I was rejected from the Canadian schools but decided it isn’t worth traveling to the US for.

In Canada, I was accepted to the University of Toronto, Waterloo, University of British Columbia and McMaster. Going to the University of Toronto…
