Chances at TOp Schools!!

wow, people on this site are so critical!!! i think you have a very impressive resume and you deserve to, and will, get into most of those top schools. i have similar stats and was accepted at columbia, georgetown, jhu, tufts, cornell, a combined med program and harvard. you have excellent ECs and your scores are in the range they should be. the only real weakness is the B's but i think those are completely erased by the CC classes. keep up the good work in your ECs, study hard for the tests and you will be absolutely set.

u have a great shot for every single school. I don't know why everyone's bashing on ur chances. It's pretty rare to be class president for 4 years straight

Thanks a lot. There were few adversities that I had to face throughout 1st semester of my Junior year, which I couldnt really concentrate onto school. Therefore, I'm going to try my best to get 5's on the AP tests.

I guess you want to do international relations or something? I think you have a shot at all those schools, but apply ED to Princeton if you really want to go.

Yes, I want either IR or Poli Sci. as my college major.

west coast Asian puts you in a deep pool. In that pool, you are average or below. Lower Ivies or some of the others most likely.

oh, i see. What do you meen by deep pool?

There are thousands of west coast Asians that all think they have to go Ivy. Many (most) will have stats as good or better than yours. That means you won't stand out in your regional or ethnic pool. You have to give Harvard a reason to take you over the SAT 2350+ kids with a 4.0 and tons of ECs.

asians are the most competitive race..
my friend had a perfect 4.0 unweighted 6 AP classes for her senior year, tons of ECs, 2340 on SAT and almost perfect scores on SAT IIs, and she was rejected from stanford, harvard, yale, princeton, and got in at berkeley, the only college she got into. she (and everyone else) was so sure she'd get into stanford..but yea. being asian sucks. cuz you're just compared to all other asians =[ so it's harder to get into the ivy's

why wasn't that girl accepted, mellyx3? I've seen people with worse stats on this board who are Asian get accepted to Harvard.

Because numbers aren't everything. Essays, interviews, rec's, etc. etc. matter in admissions.

oh...better hone my writing skills.

I'm a really shy person--many people say that I don't talk much. Will this work for me or against me? What should I do?

OK from Ohio...go to probably one of the most competitive private schools in the state (46% recieved national merit recognizition)

46% of students in my class got national merit recog.
out of 80ish students per grade (this yr we have 2 As from Yale, 1 A from Pton, 2 As from Penn, 1 A from DMouth, 2 from NWestern, 1 from Amherst, 1 from Cornell...)..in 03 we had 7 get into yale

cooljoe-i also have a friend thts a sophmore like me and she has perfect grades but she's really really shy and doesn't participate much and doesn't like to talk. i think maybe...try taking public speaking or debate to try and loosen up a bit? cuz i know it helped me become a better speaker and more outgoing.

ah sorry to intrude on this thread...ignore my stats
