Went too a mediocre public school for my first two years and transferred to a smaller, but much better, catholic private school for my last two years. Class standing at first school... 8/334... at new school 13/160

Caucasian, from the deep south, first person in family to go to college out of my home state, upper middle income... what are my chances of being accepted to these schools?

WashU ED- will probably play baseball
Johns Hopkins- will probably play baseball
Brown- maybe on baseball
Rice
Dartmouth- maybe on baseball
UPenn- maybe on baseball
UVA
Amherst- will probably play baseball
UChicago- will probably play baseball
Vanderbilt
Auburn (in state)

Ooooh, I can totally see you at Vanderbilt! XD I just visited it 2-3 weeks ago (I got in), and you definitely sound like a good match.

I’m surprised that you’re not applying to Duke though. I’m also from the South (TX), and practically everybody I know applied to Duke (and Rice), lol.

If you’re recruited for sports, you’ll have a very high chance of getting into all those schools.

However, I would really try to bring up the ECs. Maybe you should join some clubs and become an officer, etc.

Also, you may want to retake the SATs. A 2300+ would be excellent.

Chance me back?

Thanks,
Leon

Be careful with Vanderbilt. If you decide you want to go there I would suggest applying early decision, regardless of what they tell you, it really helps your chances of getting in.

My number one is WashU. I visited Vandy and I liked it, but I wasn’t in love.

I’d agree that being a recruited athlete will help you, and would have a good chance to get you in at Penn and Dartmouth. It’s not as if you’re unqualified. That said, do try to get As this year and in the fall of next. If nothing else, they’ll show an upward trend, and the GPA could otherwise be a little bit of a liability. Oh, and pick up some officer positions in NHS and Mu Alpha Theta.

Ok thanks for the feedback. The reason for my downward GPA was because I changed schools going into my junior year and had to adjust to a completely different culture. However, my grades will be much higher next year. Do admissions offices take any sympathy to that?

school dont really like downward trends in grades maybe you should get SAT up a bit, and ur set for any of those colleges, but I think vanderbilt would be good for you :)

could you or any one plz help me out :)

Oh and it’s really just one bogus class that’s bringing my GPA down so much.
