Chances at transferring from Fordham to Rutgers Pharmacy

Hey, I'm a freshman at Fordham Rose Hill Campus College of Business Administration, and really ambitious to switch schools. I've recently sparked an interest for pharmacy and I've heard that the Rutgers Pharmacy program is one of the best. I've been researching and considered it and I really want to go there. Classes haven't started yet so I can't give you any numbers and I kinda want to wait to see how Fordham curriculum is and just the feel of it is before I make any rash decisions. But I was wondering if you guys could possibly guide me in the right direction on what I should do to get accepted there. I didn't do too well in high school. Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest I believe has a weighted GPA scale. But I think mine is in the 3.1 range unweighted...not sure...and I had a 1240 SAT score before the New SATs. I'm really ambitious, willing to study all day and night, willing to kiss up to any professors, anything so please, could anyone send me some word of advice, and tell me what to do...thank you so much!

anybody please?

someone please help...

Do you live in New Jersey? That really helps-obviously you are going to school in NY.

oh yeah, I guess I should elaborate...Yeah I live in New Jersey, and I'm a pretty well-rounded student extracurricular-wise

would living in New Jersey significantly boost my chances?

Rutgers seems to favor in staters, but you MAY have a chance.

The only person I know who got into that program was an outstanding student. And a dweeb. But an outstanding student, nonetheless. She picked NYU, though. =/

rutgers pharmacy is definately one of the best. i know alotta people that go there. they all had atleast above a 1300 on the old SATs and atleast above a 3.8 GPA. most of them are graduating from the program and getting 6 digits in their first year salary. crazy isnt it?

A friend of mine got rejected from Rutgers Pharmacy School with a 1360 on SATs (last year) and 4.3 GPA. She went to Northern Valley Old Tappan. It is very hard to transfer in to any pharmacy school from outside. Many of the schools are not even accepting pharmacy transfers. If you don't get in by year 1 of the program it is very difficult to get in. First priority to be admitted to the 3rd professional year is the School's current pharmacy students (in the 6 year program), 2nd priority goes to the School's current students who have just decided they woud like to be in Pharmacy and the last priority is to outside students. You have to take the pharmacy entry exam to transfer in. It is very very competitive.

Yeah, I heard about how crazy it is to get in. So i was wondering what are my chances of just transferring into the Rutgers College Division and then just transferring into the Pharmacy Department later on?

go for it, but rutgers is a loser's school.

^^^ Because of WHAT? Because it's not ranked high enough for you? WAHHHHHHHH. Such babies.

not ranking wise, but ever loser in jersey goes there. plus their footbal team sucks.

Okay, I was being a prick. lol.

Anyways, you're right, it IS annoying, but still. With regard to the OP, reserving such opinions may be best.

Not sure what your chances would be but you would be in a better position than transferring from the outside in. It all depends on how many places they have open and that is usually not too many. In fact, if you look on UCONN's website you will see they are not taking any outside transfers this year at all. It may be similar at Rutgers. The pharmacy school is excellent with a great reputation. Not sure the area that it is in is too good. A friend of mine that works at CVS transferred from Rutgers Pharmacy School to Rhode Island because she didn't like the area. She transferred in her third professional year and had very very high grades and work experience. Hope this information is helpful. THe best thing is to get in as a Freshman into a 6 year program.

So do you suggest I transfer into the Rutgers college then transfer into Pharm or go directly into Pharm? hey man, i have a bunch of cool friends that go to rutgers...haha.....yo man i think fordham's team is worse than rutgers' anyway

i was joking around, if you really feel rutgers is good for you, go for it. Its a big school btw, so be prepared for that, and the campus is meh, but then again its the student that makes the college. So if your driven I say go for it.
