hey I'm wondering what you think of my chances at getting into Tufts University. I really, really want to go there but I fear that my gpa and sat scores are too low.

Unweighted HS gpa: 3.55
note: my high school is one of the harder ones of northern California and I've heard that some colleges give students at my school a 0.2 gpa cushion.

sat: 1980 (CR: 650; M: 640; W: 690)

sat II: US history: 720; Math 2: 670

The biggest thing I am worried about is my math scores. They are extremely low, especially if you factor in my performance in class. I got a C+ in my Algebra 2/Trig A class second semester junior year.

However, I did get an A in AP US history. I'm not planning on studying anything math related in college considering that my scores are terrible. I am planning on studying international relations, sociology, or political science because I am interested in those subjects and I like/am good at reading.

I am white and from an affluent suburban community (which do not help).

I write for the school newspaper and am an Eagle scout. I played baseball too which took up a ton of time so I am hoping they factor that in when they see my not so good second semester junior year grades.

I'm a pretty good writer, and I heard that Tufts likes a well-written essay more than other universities.

I'm taking AP Bio, AP Psychology, and AP Environmental Science senior year.

I got a 5 on the AP US history exam and a 3 on the AP Spanish Language exam
