Chances at Tulane University

Hi, I'm Alex.
I live in Los Angeles and here are my awful stats:

GPA - 3.1 UW / 3.6 W (with Honors) / 3.3 W (without Honors)
I'm not sure how weighting works at my school with honors courses.
Besides Honors, I've taken 2 APs

APUSH - 4
AP Eng. Lang - 3

I'm awaiting my ACT Scores, projecting somewhere around a 30.

I'm currently ranked 116/566.

I want to major in philosophy.

Oh, and my senior schedule (if that means anything)

ap gov
ap lit

ap environmental

adv. band

Assuming you get the 30 on the ACT, I’d say you’re probably set. Your EC’s are awesome and your senior schedule and APs are good. Your GPA might be a little low but your ACT and EC’s make up for it so you will probably get in.

Chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1391988-pleeeaseee-chance-me-engineering-i-will-chance-back.html

Yeah I think that you’re ECs are good, but what type of school do you want to go to?

I could care less what kind of school I go to. Sorry if that sounds awful.
I was looking at UC Berkeley and UCLA and USC… pretty much alot of California schools since I’m from Los Angeles. But I was doing the Posse Scholarship (got rejected) and started looking at out of state universities. As soon as I saw Tulane, though, I just fell in love. I play a lot of trombone, and Louisiana is a haven for jazz. The entire atmosphere of New Orleans is amazing.
But my list right now stands as:
UC Berkeley
Tulane
UCLA
USC (For Poli. Sci.) <— I have a good chance here - I have a history with USC and know many people.
Columbia or NYU (Both have great Philosophy Programs)
Maybe Northwestern, not sure why. I probably won’t apply there.

Thats it.

Okay so the gpa might hurt, but your ECs are good, and your predicted ACT will also help. Tulane sounds like a good fit. Write a really good essay! good luck!

Thanks! Anyone else? :)

bump bump bump

last bump? maybe? D:
