I was just wondering what my chances are at Tulane.

I have a 3.4 unweighted gpa and a 3.7 weighted. My school only weights any honor or accelerated class by .3 even if you only take one, so its impossible to get higher than .3 no matter how many AP's one takes. I will have taken 10 AP's by end of graduation. I have a 25 on my ACT so far and I am re-taking this month hoping for a 27-28. I have above average extra curricular and essays. My recommendations are stellar.

get a higher act score and i would say you are very slight reach, but only because of the gpa. I hear tulanes admissions are weird though and they dont always look at the numbers, so seeing as your other aspects are very strong and your course schedule was strong it may be a match.

tulane is a weird school in terms of admissions. if you look on collegeboard, you'll see that they're average sat scores are really high, but their average gpa is pretty low (compared to the sats), only like a 3.4 or something. also, you can see by the distribution of gpas on collegeboard that there is a fairily large percentage of kids who got in with a gpa below a 3.0. so i'm guessing that sats are more important? but that's just a guess.

I was accepted with a 26 ACT 3.65 unweighted and 4.46 weighted. If you're in the top 10% it makes a big difference. Strive for 26 or above, there is a big difference in a 25 and 26.

My S only had about a 3.0 gpa unweighted but a high sat score, and admittedly, some excellent EC's. He was admitted. I'd say it looks pretty good for you.
He had a better chance of getting in than I would have thought...his SAT and ECs seemed to matter here more than at some other schools he applied to.

Im guessing that your son was an exception because of his excellent ECs and SAT score than because most people will get rejected in a second with a 3.0

"Im guessing that your son was an exception because of his excellent ECs and SAT score than because most people will get rejected in a second with a 3.0"

Is that really true? Because it says that of the freshman class
19% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24
12% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99
2% had h.s. GPA between 2.0 and 2.49

I mean that's a pretty good percentage of kids who didn't have perfect grades and still got in...
