Are you comfortable sharing which school you attend in Atlanta? (with your screenname Knights-- is that Pace?)? It may make a difference. I’d bring up the SATs and GPA if you could. This year the average SAT for admitted students was about 1396/1600.

I would say that if this was 2 years ago, you would be in. However, since Tulane recieved 33,000 applications for the current class and accepted a small amount and have 1600 actually attending - I would say slight reach. Also, Tulane offers generous academic scholarships, but your stats appear to fall below the line if you do get in. Good luck anyway - your EC’s are good and that counts at Tulane. If you get your SAT’s over 1300 that should help.

Since your ACT is equivalent to about a 1420, that is in the right range for Tulane. I’d really recommend you see if you can get your GPA up. If you are in the lower 25% of your class, even though it is a very good school, that may work against you.

Apply EARLY, and go to all the local events Tulane puts on. Meet the Tulane rep at your college fair (she is a sweetie, assuming she stays on another year) and demonstrate interest. This will help a lot. If you do come to Tulane, let me know- you’l probably be on the Ult. Frisbee team with my s! (And you probably played against him/his team in the state championship a few weeks ago).

Lewmin- actually, Tulane got 34,000 applications this year. Unbelievable!

Tulane is very community service oreinted. Make certain that your community service is appropriately highlighted in your application. My son’s SAT’s were only 1220/1600 and I believe that the advantage of applying EA and being involved in a ton of community service activities was why he was accepted.

It’s gonna be tough for you. I had higher SATs and GPA (with a full IB classes) and I was waitlisted. That said, I was accepted with 17000 a year after, so it worked out for me. Applying early is a really good idea - it was way easier to get in early this year because they had no idea the increase in applications would be like this.

Knights - JMHO, but before you get too excited about getting in, you might want to honestly assess why you have that GPA (and even why your ACT and SAT scores don’t match up). Tulane is a “no hand holding” school and your classes will be challenging. And there are lots more distractions than you had in HS. As I said, JMHO.

No college is going to hold my hand in college, you are right. However, my GPA is a result of a poor freshman year and rough first semester of sophomore year. Not exactly sure what your point on my standardized test scores means..

Re: the SAT-ACT disconnect, a 32 ACT correlates (approximately) to a 1420 SAT. You indicated in your OP that your SAT was 1240, which correlates to a 27 ACT.

You didnt offend me as much as I just felt the need to explain. Its all good. What are you trying to say about the disconnect, just that its pretty sizeable?

If I’m not mistaken, EA had a much higher acceptance rate for the 2012 class because they didn’t realize how many applications they were going to get.

No idea how that will reflect in the coming admissions season.
