<p>Hello everyone , I live in Hamilton, Canada (pretty small city), and I am interested in applying to UCLA</p>

<p>I know my stats are a bit below average(considering that I'm an international student[or AM I considered an international student :S]), but I'll post them anyway and please chance me, and if you don't think I have a chance, please post why. Thank you.</p>

<p>btw, I was born in LA, California</p>

<p>SAT: 2080 and 2090
Critical Reading: 590,580 (will bump it up to a 700) <-- I'm working my a** off for this
Math: 790,770 (to 800)
Writing: 700,740 (to 750)</p>

<p>Subject tests: Math IIC-800
Physics- 750
Chemistry - will take (just 'cause I might apply to princeton
AP Calculus AB - 4 (<strong><em>My school does not offer any AP classes or exams,,,I had to go to anotehr school for this ...lol</em></strong>)</p>

<p>Top 5% of graduating class</p>

<p>Straight A (A+'s,A's,A-'s) since grade 9</p>

<p>Sports:
Houseleague Basketball team since grade 9 (4 years)
School basketball team in grade 9
Was involved in Church basketball competitions</p>

<p>Music:
Have been in Orchestra since grade 9 (4 years)
got into Chamber Orchestra (Grade 11)
Invited to Nationals Orchestra Competition (Canada)
Head of Church Orchestra</p>

<p>Others:
Volunteered at Hospital, serving patients after surgeries, for 200 hours
Went on mission to Tijuana,Mexico over summer to help needies
Went on mission to Mattagami,Ontario native village to help needies
Accepted to staff at children's summer camp (1 month)
Math Club 1 year
AMC-12 score: 86 (yeah might as well just now use this)</p>

School French Award (Top Mark award)
5 Math contest certificates
Science contest national top 15% contest</p>

<p>Excellent shot, probably guarantee.
UCLA doesn’t see too many canadians. Do some research on UCLA’s music and dance programs. Expressing interest in them won’t hurt your chances.</p>

<p>Spoken like a true media W***e. :wink: Anyway, because of you not being in cali, I think you will have to chance your luck and hope for the best. If you were in cali, you would walk in. BUT, you are not, and they give priority to cali students.</p>

<p>You need to raise the CR but you don’t need a 2200 by any stretch. UCLA takes a higher percentage of OOS applicants than in state. They will take even more this year because they badly need the money and OOS kids pay almost twice as much. I’m sure they don’t get may Canadian applicants. I think you’re good to go with a 630CR.</p>

<p>You probably don’t get news of the UCs in Canada, but do research the present situation. Their budgets are being cut, classes are being cut and fees rising because of the California budget crisis. It will take many more than 4 years to get the classes they will need to graduate. At almost the same price as a private college, you may also want to look at some of the good privates in the LA area like USC and the Claremont colleges.</p>
