I am a California white male >.> I'll be applying U Chicago normal admission. I've had major disruptions the first two years of highschool. I"m confident that my first semester senior year grades will show a huge improvement now that the medical issues are resolved.

ACT: 34 (33 math, 34 English, 34 reading, 36 science, 10 essay)
SAT: 730 math, 720 reading, 800 writing
SAT II: 770 Math II, 760 Chemistry, 750 US Hist, 740 World Hist (never took a course or studied for it >.>)
PSAT: 224
Unweighted GPA: 3.85
Weighted GPA: 4.04
Class rank: NA

I've taken a very difficult schedule all four years. However, I've had a lot of medical stuff going on, missed 4 months freshman year, missed several weeks sophomore year, had the prospect of surgery floating around during first semester Junior finals. Just broke down basically. Hoping it will be taken into account :/

I took level 1 C++ at a local CC freshman year, got an A.

AP scores: AP Chemistry - 4, AP Euro -5 APUS -5 AP Calc AB -4

Extracurricular activities: Model United Nations (president senior year, 65 person club, highly ranked, numerous awards) Academic Decathlon (treasurer Junior, president jnior year)

Volunteer experiences: 50 hours @ state fair. 110 library volunteering. 3/4 of sophomore summer spent with medical stuff.

My senior schedule is max difficulty (I had scheduling problems) 5 weighted 4 AP.

Major awards: National Merit semifinalist (will be trying for finalist).

My big problem is 2 Cs in math courses... One sophomore year, first semester. One junior year first semester. I recovered with a B, and then a B+. But that's a problem... I'll be taking Calc BC this year. My school is fairly highly rated. IN terms of essay and fit, I am indeed an intellectual. I learn for learning, not for the end goal of getting into college. (Well, >.>)

I will have great letters of rec. Two teachers asked me if they could write them, so I'd hope they would be good. I know the teachers fairly well.

What are my chances? In a way I'm counting on all the medical disruptions to help me, along with the fact that personality wise I'm very intellectual and whatnot. A college counselor friend of my mom's said that she figures it's a target, but I"m inclined not to trust her...

Would probably apply econ. Does that substantially hurt my chances?
