chances at u of illinois urbana engineering?

i'm interested in either engineering or accounting/finance at university of Illinois at urbana
my expected gpa at the end of jr. year is 4.33. im top 10% in my grade but my school got rid of class rank.

I plan on taking the ACT again, but for now my score is a 27. Superscore is 29 for the two tests that I took.
26 english
33 math
20 reading
29 science

23 english
28 math
29 reading
26 science

i'm on varsity lacrosse and a member of student government.
if you chance me, I will chance you, thanks.

ACT a little low for these two majors.

Your gpa seems on par with U of I, but your act score definitely needs some work. You should be aiming to get a 30. Also, your ECs are far too few. Being on a varsity sport is good, but that is really all you have. There isnt much you can do about that though, since colleges see straight through it if you just join a bunch of activities junior year. Maybe you should try to get in a leadership in your student government, that way you at least appear to be very dedicated to the two activities that you do.

Have you taken the SAT and SAT Subject II Tests? If so, what did you get on them?

With your stats right now, I don’t think that your odds for getting into U of I at champaign are great, especially their engineering and accounting programs. But you still have almost a year left to improve your resume and testing scores, so that could change.

You might want to look into some schools like the University of Illinois at Chicago, Carthage, and the University of Alabama. All of these schools are fairly good and would be good match/safeties for you.

Can you chance me for University of Illinois at Urbana and New York University?

Weighted GPA: 4.219
Unweighted GPA: 3.68

SAT: 1920 (I am definitely retaking; I want at least 2000 or higher)
ACT: Have not taken yet

AP’s/Honors:

9th - Honors Bio, and I am pretty sure that I took Pre AP Algebra, and English, although my transcript does not verify.

10th - None ( Note my school does not really offer AP’s to sophmores, and I had to make up classes to meet NY criteria)

11th: AP US ( 4 on the exam)

12: AP Gov and AP comparative Politics (Haven’t taken the exams yet obviously)

Note: In 9th grade, I was in a high school in Florida and during my summer moved up to New York. The school I go to now is a lot more rigorous and competitive. It’s small - around I’d say anywhere between 400-600 kids. Maybe it’s not that small but compared to my old school, it’s pretty small.

Extracurricular Activities:

9th (This was in FL): No clubs, did a decent amount of volunteer with the Youth program at the american red cross, a lot of babysitting like once every week or so. (idk if that counts)
10th: Gay straight Alliance
11th: Gay Straight Alliance, Asian Society, and Amnesty International
12th: N/A

Your ACT score is way too low. I had friends this year who applied early action with a 30 and a 31 on their ACT and neither of them made it. And their ECs were way more rigorous than yours. You should try to bring your ACT score up, and if you can’t do that, then try your luck with the SAT. I have had friends who really sucked on the SAT but were able to do way better on the ACT and vice versa. They are two totally different formats.

What is your course load like? Have you taken many IBs and APs?

ap psychology, ap bc calculus, accelerated physics, accelerated spanish, regular english, and regular history summer 2012.

next year multivariable equations 1st semester, differential equations 2nd semester. ap computer science, ap physics, possibly ap english, and most likely regular history during the summer

You seem to be in rigorous classes for science and math, which is good for engineering and financing. Does your school offer any business or engineering classes? Maybe you should take one of those your senior year.

Can you chance me?
