So u of m is probably my top choice and I really want to go there, BUT… I accidentally applied, I had a finger spasm and accidentally hit submit when I was proof reading my “short answer” on the last page of the application :(((((
the typo is “peer’s” when I meant " peers’ ", because it’s possessive with multiple peers. uggghhhhh I’m so dumb! I emailed them right after I applied, but they said I could only update my stats on my application, not fix anything in it. so I just went with it and applied.
Stats:
Act - 31 (English 35, Reading 34, math 27, science 27)
gpa - 3.74 uw (I think, somewhere around there)
ap classes: bio (got a 3 on test), taking Ap French and AP English lit this year. (only 7 AP classes offered at school)
dual credit: med careers and physics 121 and 122 (literally the hardest class on my life)
clubs/extracurriculars: varsity tennis, chess club, science Olympiad, year book, robotics club, French club board, fundraiser for hope for Haiti, was an election judge for the presidential election, debate club, drama club, church youth group, volunteered at assisted living home
other things: attended a journalism camp and university of Illinois at champaign Urbana, got academic letters, and national honor society inductee
and sorry if this is complete crap, typing this at school on my way to class!
First of all you will definitely get into CLA (which is where the school of Journalism is, correct?). So no worries there. Second of all, are you even allowed to apply directly to the major before matriculating? Not sure. But in any case it looks like that’s a separate application process.
Given all the horrendous typos in our online news articles over the past several years, any typos they spot in your application can always be explained away by saying that you were testing their proofreading rigor because you wish to join a journalism program where that is actually taught!
