Chances at UC irvine?

then so far, my junior and sophmore gap average 3.125, not weighing 10th grade english honors, geo honors and weighing world history honors, US AP, and junior english honors.

then 3.125 is your ucgpa.

you can get into merced, riverside and likely santa cruz.

irvine, sb, davis and especially cal, la, sd are all pretty much reaches.

anything i can do now to get into the "reaches"? I plan to just go to any UC for 2 years and transfer to a bigger one like LA or Berkeley and stdy my major there. Is that still a viable option with my record now?

If you REALLY want to make that transfer to LA or Cal, then I would suggest community college first. UC to UC transfers are alot more difficult to do and California CCs have priority over all other transfers.

Study for the SATs... you still have a few more months to do so.

a lot of people plan to transfer from community college or another UC, but often it doesn't work that way.

just a warning that transferring isn't all that easy.

I still havent taken the SAT II's, so that's my first priority. If i have time, i'll do a SAT retake, hopefully pushing it to 1800 or so.

Are there any UC's i can be a match for? Or are they all kinda outta my reach at this point?
I feel like i haven't done anything compared to all these 4.0 UW gpa people on this forum.

Santa Cruz, Riverside, Merced.

To the OP...

You should have the GPA you're giving us be your UC GPA, which is the GPA the UC system uses, and is specially calculated by the schools...

It's a bit complicated, but these instructions from the UC system can help.

Grade Point Average
To determine your eligibility, the University calculates your GPA in the "a-g" subjects by assigning point values to the grades you earn, totaling the points and dividing the total by the number of "a-g" courses. Points are assigned as follows: A=4 points, B=3 points, C=2 points, D=1 point, and F=0 points. (Pluses and minuses are not calculated in the grade point average.)
Only the grades you earn in "a-g" subjects in the 10th and 11th grades - including summer sessions - are used to calculate your preliminary GPA. Courses you took in ninth grade can be used to meet the Subject Requirement if you earned a grade of C or better, but they will not be used to calculate your GPA.

Honors Courses: The University assigns extra points for up to eight semesters of University-certified honors-level and Advanced Placement courses taken in the last three years of high school: A=5 points, B=4 points, C=3 points. No more than two yearlong UC-approved honors level courses taken in the 10th grade may be given extra points. A grade of D in an honors or advanced placement course does not earn extra points.

Essentially, it's weighted without counting +'s and -'s...to find out what classes are counted in the GPA, and if they receive the extra point of credit, you can use this website. Search for your school on it, and it will show you a list of all the schools in California.

Once you know your GPA as this, people will be able to give you a much more accurate assessment of your chances.
