Chances at UC Schools

Currently, I’m a Junior at a competitive public high school in New Jersey. I know that it’s a little bit early to be worried about admissions, but I want honest opinions before I go too far.

PSAT: 210 (whatever that will get me, if anything)

SAT: 2130 (700 CR, 710 M, 720 W - I want to get these up)

GPA: 3.78-3.8 unweighted (by the end of this year)

My school doesn’t do class rank nor does it send it out to colleges.

APs I plan on taking: English lit, English lang, Spanish, U.S. History, European History, Bio… I should get a 4 or 5 on all of them.

ECs: unimpressive
History Club- 2, 3, 4
Key Club- 2, 3, 4 (unavailable 1)
International Club - 2, 3, 4 (unavailable 1)
(I expect that I will be inducted into NHS and Spanish Honors Society later this year)
Youth Group at church - 1, 2
Volunteer at Summer camp - approx. 100 hours (4 hours a day/5 days a week for 5 weeks)
other volunteer work from all four years

I take all of the honors/AP courses that I can now, although Freshman year I took a lot less. I have been consistent with my grades throughout high school, on a slight upward trend and with my grades remaining level as I moved up.

I know it’s quite a reach for most of the UC schools, especially because I’m out of state. Thanks for any help.

UCB/UCLA:Low Reaches
UCSD:Safe Match
UCD/I/SB/SC/R: Safeties

I have to disagree Bjwell. SB's average gpa last year was a 3.9 so I wouldn't consider it a saftie and Cal and LA are just reaches not low reaches.

SB's average is a 3.99 weighted, wgile the original poster reported an unweighted GPA. It should be in the safety region.

Oh my mistake i though he said weighted. So yeah the OP does have really good chances.

By the way, my cumulative weighted GPA is 4.78/4.3

you also have to consider OUT OF STATE

I got into Berkeley and UCLA out-of-state with early 1400s out of 1600 on the SAT I and early 700s to late 700s on the 3 subject SAT IIs. So I believe your scores are okay.

Your GPA may be a bit low though, and your ECs need a boost.

For the others, you are probably in.
