I ideally want to go to UCLA or Cal for Psych and I'll have the pre reqs done for those with an estimated GPA of 3.769. However, since both are so impacted my back up is Irvine. I don't really want to go anywhere else since Irvine is close to home. I'll be missing quite a few pre-reqs for irvine and no I didn't tag because I didn't have 30 transferable units by summer. Is Irvine still a safe back up for me missing like 3-4 pre reqs?

No. Even if you had a 4.00 and you’re missing 3-4 pre-reqs you have almost no chance (you’d have a MUCH better chance at LA or Berk) of admittance.

Sorry =(.

^^^wellll i wouldnt say NO CHANCE ZERO ZIP NONE…but your chances are SIGNIFICANTLY reduced. and its MOST LIKELY you won’t get in.

Well look at it this way.

They’ll order the applications by number of pre-reqs missing (0, 1, 2, etc.). They pick up the stack of applications missing 0 pre-reqs, they admit everyone that they believe qualifies for admission. They pick up the stack of applications missing 1 pre-req, they admit everyone they believe qualifies (with similar cutoffs to the 0 pre-reqs). And they repeat until they get to the pile of people missing 3 pre-reqs.

Well now they either have very few or no spaces left, ALL the applicants that meet the cutoff will be admitted starting with the ones with the best stats. And they may not even get to the applicants who are missing 4 pre-reqs.

Now… your application is looked at after ANYONE WHO HAS MORE PRE-REQS DONE THAN YOU, your chances can be safely considered near zero. Unless everyone who did more pre-reqs than you died or have a GPA of 3.00 and didn’t TAG, you are not in a good position.

The chance of you getting admitted to LA or Berkeley are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH HIGHER than being admitted to Irvine.

I don’t want to give you any false hope, so you should definitely consider alternative plans.

^ wow, that’s pretty significant, considering UCI had way more pre-req’s than UCLA/UCB. When I was looking from ASSIST, they had about 5-7 more classes that were required.
