Hi, I am going to be applying to UCLA as a Molecular cell and Developmental Biology major. I will not be doing TAP. I have a lot of extracurricular activities. I was part of leadership, clubs, I had a part time job, and I was part of certain accelerated programs that complete two-three short term classes a semester instead of 1, Volunteered 150 hrs at a hospital, and much more. Out of 20 classes I received 4 C's, 4 B's, and 12 A's. My overall community college GPA at the end of fall will be a 3.4 GPA.

There was only 1 C in one of my major classes, the other C's and B's were random classes like Cinematography 105 etc.

My major classes GPA will be a 3.6 GPA:
General Biology 1: C
General Biology 2: A
General Chemistry 1: A
General Chemistry 2: A
Calculus 1: A
Calculus 2: Enrolled in spring
Organic chemistry 1: Enrolled in spring
Calculus based physics 1: Enrolled in spring

So do I have a chance?

I’m surprised that you already have your grades for Fall semester.

Sorry lol. I’m saying when I take gen bio 2 gen Chen 2 and calc 1 and get all A’s in the fall scenario

Biology is impacted at UCLA and the average admitted last year was a 3.74. Even if you manage to get a all A’s and you end up with a 3.4, your chances are still pretty crappy. They only accepted 120 students out of 853 last year. That’s a 14% admittance rate.

MCDB has a high acceptance rate but your GPA may be a bit low. IMO, not having TAP really kills your chances.

just try u best, I think ur experiences may help.
by the way, i was admitted more than 0.2 points below the average admitted GPA~~

Thanks for the information, but hey can you guys tell me what other UC’s I can get into with these stats. And I mean good UC’s like UCI, UCSB, and UCSD

You can TAG to any one of those UC’s this upcoming September. That’ll be a guarantee spot in.

Ok so that good atlead if I can get into either UCSD or UCI I will be happy

SO how do my chances look for UCSD, UCSB, UCI

You need at least a 3.5 to TAG for UC San Diego.

UCSB UCI and UCSD without tag
