Chances at UCLA? Low grades, huge upward trend

Hey there,

I was wondering what my chances are for getting into UCLA.

During my Freshman and Sophomore year, I had some severe depression that was affecting my grades, and yes, I know its not an excuse.

Freshman GPA 2.1
Sophmore GPA 2.2
<--This summer is when I came out of my hole-->
Junior GPA 3.8 UW W 4.2

SAT 2300* I dont quite remember the EXACT number off the top of my head, I know its at least 2300 and probably a bit more.

So do I still have a chance?

1) are you from CA?
2) without ECs, rank, course rigor, leadership positions, community service info, we can’t chance you accurately.

Yeah, I’m from San Diego.

Planning on Comp-Sci, lots of community service, worked nearly all summer freshman year at an elementary school.

the only EC that I have been a part of is the robotics team.

Ouch that 2.1 and 2.2, really takes a hit on your application. But that SAT score is a HUGE help. However, there are people who are applying who have 3.5 or higher with really good SAT scores.

So maybe in your personal statement you could maybe explain the reason why, your grades were bad the first two years, because of your depression.

But UCLA is a high reach. I think you would match UCSB perfectly with that stellar SAT score.

Chance back please?
