What are my chances of getting into the UCs? which ones? can someone email me at dehtran@gmail.com thank you. Also, are there any privates i should consider? I really wanna get into UCLA what steps should i take to reach that goal?

I think you need to make sure you know how to calculate the UC gpa.
They only use 10th/11th year uc approved courses.
so right now, it looks you have a good chance, but not sure about UCLA.

dehtran:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

hey flopsy, what should I do to better my chances with UCLA? personal statement, sat scores 1 and 2 perhaps?

Increase your SAT I score to at least 2000.

UCB/UCLA: reach/slight reach
UCSD: slight reach
UCI: match
UCSB:safe match

Anyone else ? can anyone tell me my cahcnes honestly? I am kinda fretting out on this college stuff and i hope i can get through it in one piece. Any response will be greatly appreciated

might i also add that our school has an api score of 866. I dunno if thats considered great but hey thats a fat jump from our score of 830 last year and our administrators say that a 30 point jump in the 800s is considered incredible if not phenomenal

an api in the 800's is phenomenal
i go to a school in southern CA with an enrollment over 3,000, our API is 686 and we made a 14 point jump this past year, and we're considered average (or a little below)

Eh, my school's API for 04 was 912....

No joke.

you musta went to monta vista then. anyways anyone else wanna tell me my chances? any input will be appreciated greatly

hey can anyone take a look at my stats real quick and tell me my chances for the following colleges:

New York University
Boston University
Stanford
University of Pennsylvania
Santa Clara University
University of Southern California

Any input is aprreciated.

bumpity bump bump bumpity bump

You are not in range for Stanford and Penn. NYU, BC, USC are also not matches but I guess you'd have a chance at those with great recs and essay. BU and Santa Clara are matches. You have no safeties and very much need some.

ok how bout the UCs? any chances with LA?

so considering my stats how do these schools look?

UPENN
University of Michigan:ann arbor
Universiyt of southenr california
New York University

So my new stats are edited as follows

My new sat1s scores are now 560 CR, 740 math, 700 writing For a combined total of 2000. What are my chances with UCLA now?

whats api?

In California, we have to take standardized tests the government makes us take to see the level of academic performance at our schools. API is the score a school gets based on how well the students peform on the test. So if your school's API score is above 800, then it means the school is doing an excellent job in teaching you the stuff you need to learn to meet a certain standard. BTW, my school has the 4th highest API.

To dehran, your gpa is good, however your ec's and sat scores a lacking. You should try to pull up your SAT scores to around 2100. Your CR score is really dragging you down. And even though you have a variety of EC's, it doesn't look like you excelled in any of them. Unless you can write a killer essay that makes you stick out from the rest, your shot at the ivies and UCLA you listed are iffy.

yeah i see well as far as pulling sats to 2100 goes, its not gonna happen because that is the last time im taking sat 1s. Now sat 2s im gonna take in december and im goni got pull up my history grade for sure to at least 700 and math to really high 700s. I'm also taking lit and expecting 700 or so in there. You're right i dont seem to excel in any ec except piano. I'm really into piano and have been for over 10 years.

Any other viewpoints?
