Chances at UCLA/Stanford/Yale/Cornell/Columbia/NYU?

Hi, sorry for the longish title but these are only schools I am looking into as of now.

SAT 1: 2370
SAT 2: 800 Math 2, 790 Bio M
ACT: 33 (Won't send)

GPA: 4.0 UW, 4.74 W

APs: USH, Bio, Chem, Stats, Language, Literature, Calc AB, Calc BC, World History, Computer Science (All 5s)

No Awards :(

ECs: Cross Country 4 Years, Varsity Golf 4 Years, President of Medical Club, Key Club Member, Cofounder of Ulimate Frisbee Club

Job Experience: 100+ Volunteer Hours

My recommendations are also very strong!
My essay, I felt was only subpar though...

Thanks in advance!

your welcome in advance

I think you’ll definitely make it to UCLA, NYU and Cornell. As for the others, you will at least be deferred.

what kind/s of volunteering do you have? if you really want to pursue a career in medicine then you should try BS/MDs

Well, you should be in at NYU, UCLA and very likely Cornell. It’s rolling the dice territory on the remaining schools, as they get so, so many solid to amazing apps.

Essays do play a strong part in admissions reps figuring out if you’re a fit for their overall class, so hoping that they’re not as “subpar” as you say. And a bit more leadership would’ve been good to see beyond the one item you listed.

Volunteer hours are good, but hopefully they’re in interesting areas that will peak admiss reps interest.

Johns Hopkins would’ve been good choice too given that you’re apparently choosing a pre-med path.

Did you apply anywhere ED or EA, and what were the results?

won’t be surprised if you get in to Stanford, Yale, and cornell; won’t be surprised if you don’t. but i think you will just looking at your academic stats

what do you mean these are the only schools you’re looking into as of now…I mean everyone needs safety schools!

Essays are pretty subjective. Did it show something about your personality that colleges can use to get to know you better?

UCLA: Match
NYU: Match
Cornell: High Match
Stanford: Reach
Columbia: Reach
Yale: Reach

Why wouldn’t you send a 33 ACT? It’s still 99th percentile

UCLA and NYU: Match
Rest: Low reach - Reach
Good luck!

Chance back?

“ACT: 33 (Won’t send)”

You must send all scores to both Stanford and Yale. They require full testing disclosure. Besides, there’s nothing wrong with a 33 ACT.

Can’t you come up with a better idea than NYU given what it costs to attend?

I’m very interested in NYU too, despite the really high costs. College in NYC just seems like a completely different experience, ya know?

But @OP, you are a Low Match for UCLA and NYU. :)

Cornell and Columbia are High Match-Low Reaches.

And as almost always, Stanford & Yale you can never be sure of. So put 'em ad Mid Reaches.
