<p>gpa: 3.55uw (3.96w)
toughest course load (all honors and..)
have four AP's under my belt: CalcAB (4), Lang (4), US (4), Euro (5)
senior year schedule is tough: AP CALCBC, AP Lit, AP Bio, Spanish 4H, Art (req), Civics/Econ H (will take AP test)
SAT: 2000 (690w, 700m, 610v)
SAT2: 800 m2c, 710 chem</p>

<p>EC's (a few):
Eagle Scout (3000+ hours over a span of 5 years)
Tennis JV (three years) and V (one year)
Research Institute (200+ hrs)
Summer jobs-10th, 11th, and 12th (around 300 hrs total)
Volunteer at hospital (200+ hrs)
Model United Nations (since 9th)</p>

<p>Any help or advise is welcomed (especially on UC's)</p>

<p>By the way i think i go to the #1 or #2 school in Cali if that would help</p>

<p>And i can prolly pull some good essays because of all my Boy Scouting experiences and the hospital work that ive done</p>

<p>Are you CA resident or child of UC employee? This makes a BIG difference. If you're not a CA resident, UCLA & UCB are often "reaches" even for excellent students (only accept few non-residents). Only one student from our high school is going to UCLA & he's one of our validictorians with outstanding ECs & NMFinalist. I know of many outstanding students who were rejected by UCLA & UCB. UCSD is not as selective & probably have a better shot at getting in there.
By the weya, you need to calculate GPA according to UC rules. Check out this website & use their calculator to help calculate the STATs they'd use in connection with your application.</p>

<p>ucb and ucla are reaches</p>

<p>ucsd is a slight reach</p>

<p>and if you're out of state, then it's even harder</p>

<p>currently im preping for the new SAT and if i can raise my score to around 2200ish (what im getting now on prac tests) then how much would this affect my chances</p>

<p>i think your GPA is a problem......but u will have a great chance for ucsd...... ucla is going to be a slight reach.....so is ucb........because they like your test scores AND ecs........</p>

<p>well the two top schools from what i have heard is Troy (school i go to) and Whitney High (some school in Los Angeles)</p>

<p>im actually not sure because of ur kinda low GPA but if u can boost up that SAT score to around 2250+ (hint: work really hard) and get some nice essays then ur in good shape for top UC's as well</p>

<p>I'm starting to hate it how 99% of Californians in College Confidential say they're from the number one ranked high school in the state, and yet they all come from different schools. For the love of God, which ranking(s) are you guys all referring to?</p>

There are rankings for privates, publics, magnets
What i was referring to was public/magnet schools
I've heard of Harvard Westlake, namaste, but im not sure if thats private of public</p>

<p>anyways UC's dont look at what school you come from so AMON it really doesn't matter</p>

<p>flopsy i think there was this one link where i saw the ranking but you had to pay for it, i think just search for U.S news top 100 ranked high schools, and see which is the highest for cali</p>
