Personal statements were about being a minority and my optimism. (They were really good)

Anyone?

You would have been good had it not been for your sat score. maybe the lower UC’s though.

UCLA/UCSD: Reach
SAT is hurting you. How do you get guaranteed admission to SDSU???

The SAT will hurt you a lot, 1600 is very low for UCLA and UCSD. More importantly, it might undermine your otherwise good GPA. It kind of puts the validity of the rigor of your classes in question – how could a 4.4 student only score a 1600? Perhaps you should take the January SAT and apply to some other schools ( with a janurary deadline) with it. You really have good chances, just focus on the SAT a lot.

UCLA likes SATs beginning in the in the 2100+. Your score is just too low. Sorry.

Bump! Just want a few more opinions.

Bump…?

I’ve taken 6 AP courses and 4 honors from sophomore to junior year with almost all As with 2 Bs and I can say that I still got a 1690 on the SAT like you. The thing about the SAT is you really have to study the structure of the test and review the material because all the crap they put on there is from like middle school if you take advanced classes. I retook my act yesterday and I’m hoping to get around a 28. Even though I feel like the SAT is not an accurate measure of your academic ability, colleges apparently really care about it. There are people in my school with 2.8 GPAs who are not that bright that still get like 2100+. And in response to the poster above, my school is very competitive with 700 people. Getting a good score on the SAT really depends on whether or not you remember information from like 4 years ago. For me, I was so focused on calculus and writing essays that I forgot basic grammar and algebra.

Anyways, I think you still have a chance at UCLA because your ECs are pretty strong, and your only weakness is the SAT. And are you sure you calculated your UC GPA correctly because people in my school who have taken all AP classes and get As in all of them said their UC GPA was around 4.3 because of the 8 semester cap.

UCLA/UCSD will be reaches but hopefully they will overlook your test scores and focus on your ECs/GPA. You have a good chance at UCD and UCI if you are interested in those schools.

chance me back if you like http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1707670-chance-me-for-ucs-low-test-scores.html#latest

@sxyaznryanchster‌ My capped GPA is 4.20.

SAT score is really going to hurt you. Any chances of retake? Colleges really look at standardized testing
