Hi Jaynele,

UC Berkeley: Slight Reach???
The reason I put the question marks is because you listed no extracurriculars. However, your strong SAT score puts you on level playing field with other applicants (as does your GPA), and you also have extremely high SAT II scores. For a better chance of admission, perhaps a slightly higher SAT 1 score; strong extracurriculars will also help.

UCLA: Slight Reach/Match???
As stated above, you have extremely high SAT 1 and SAT II scores in addition to a very high GPA. I say Slight Reach because other applicants may also have strong stats just like yours, although on the whole, I'd say you stand a fairly good chance of admission. Again, the extracurriculars leaves me a little in the dark here.

UCSD: Match/Slight Reach???
My explanation here would essentially be the same as above, though I'd say you have a slightly better chance at admission here than at UCLA.

UCI/UCD: Match/Safety???
High GPA, high SAT, and high SAT II scores give you an excellent chance of admission here. Extracurriculars?

Good luck!

UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCI/UCD: Safety

anyone else? i'm just worried about cal, stanford, & cornell. last year, my friend had 2100 and a decent gpa (maybe lower than mine) and didn't get into ucla or cal. my sister, on the other hand, had similar test scores (1470 on the old sat, 800 m2, 800 korean, 700 writing) and got into all ucs but not cornell.
i had a lot of extracurricular activities (well, in my opinion)... i don't feel like listing all... but i did counseling for troubled kids... homeless shelters... fundraisers... music scholarships... my "hook" is math. i mean, not all hs kids finish calc series and diff eqs. also, people said my essays are good

If you had a lot of ECs, then Cal is match (flopsy's estimates above are good ones).

Stanford is a reach with that SAT Verbal score. Cornell, Boston University, and Carnegie Mellon are all matches.

Here is a website that shows who gets into the UCs based upon grades and test scores. Keep in mind that Cal (Berkeley) and UCLA require more ECs than the other UCs.

<a href="http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2006/freshman_admit_profile_2006.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.ucop.edu/news/factsheets/2006/freshman_admit_profile_2006.pdf</a></p>

Oh, and since you asked for info from people who went to one of these schools, it should be noted that I have an MBA degree from UCLA.

You need to list all your ECs for us and the rigor of your courses for us to give you a more accurate chancing.

Also, very few have math as a hook. Finishing the calc series/diff equations isn't exactly a hook, since quite a few have done it -- many of which are Asians. Think about it: all those that have done that are probably applying to the top colleges, too. Believe me, those at Cal/UCLA/Cornell won't be too impressed.

From those stats alone, though, I'd say UCB/UCLA are matches, and probably Cornell too. UCSD - safe match, UCI/UCD - safety.
