Colleges I am applying to
Stanford
UPenn
WU @ St. Louis (Alumni)
UC Berkeley
UCLA (Alumni) Do UCs consider this?
NYU (Alumni)
Notre Dame (Alumni)

how are you first generation and alum to all those schools?

Mom here...it sounds like you may be eligible for ELC within the UC system..this will increase your chances at UCB & UCLA. Your stats are in the ballpark, and your URM may assist. Curious...you mention different schools (alumni) but you are first generation. i am guessing that means you have family friends who have graduated from these schools-may help--or friends who now attend(won't help w/admissions other than to tell you what they did which proved successful. No ECs mention-is that yor weak spot in your application?..oK...lets say all of them accepted you...now...given your abilities and interests--do you feel you are a match-over or underqualified? Because at the end of the day, if you get in to one of the above schools, you will be in classes with students who have gotten 2400 on their SATs and 4.0 on the GPAs....now...lets say NONE of them accept you...what schools have you been looking at that you would described as a safety? Please be sure to include 1 or 2 safeties. There are many students like yourself who are qualified, and not enough spots for acceptance. You have obviously worked hard-pat yourself on the back. G'Luck!

You aren't first-gen if your parents went to college, though I assume that by "alumni," you mean other family members.

No.

You have a strong GPA, great scores, strong ECs. And you're a URM.

You have a good shot at all of them. I'd say Berkeley and UCLA are matches.

Sorry, about that. I mistook the definition of first generation :-P. Haha. Anyways, I do not know which schools would be my safeties. Any considerations?

I don't think any of them could justifiably called a "safety," except for NYU. Try for some other UCs for safeties.

I agree with kyledavid80. UCLA, Berkeley and NYU seem to be a good match but you should have UCI or UCSD for a safety, just in case
and make sure you have a good essay, since that'll be the determining factor
