Chances at UCs!!/stanford

<p>Asian (Indian) Male (CA resident)
I'm currently a junior, but with a lot of my senior friends applying to college, I'm kind of curious to see how I stack up</p>

<p>UC GPA as of now: 4.40
Total GPA: 4.033
Total GPA Unweighted: 3.88 </p>

<p>Depending on how I do this year, I'll either get top 10% or top 20% at my high school. My high school is a top rated high school (top 10% as rated by Newsweek) and is a large public school. </p>

<p>I've played the Sitar for 7 years and the Tabla for 8 years (both Indian instruments)
I've played intramural soccer for 10 years and have won the league championship three times and have gone to the State Cup once. </p>

Science (8th grade, biology, chemistry) tutor for Results Tutoring Group
Science Teacher at the San Jose site of the Breakthrough Collaborative (summer after soph year, BT is ranked as one of the top ten national internships by PR)</p>

<p>I'll be taking the new SAT in March and my PSATs this sat. I'm really looking at Berkeley and UCLA as my top UC choices and hopefully Stanford as well.</p>

<p>I don't think your UC GPA can be a 4.4 if you're only a junior; I believe only 2 weighted courses from sophomore year are counted.</p>

<p>Your ECs are good, though somewhat unfocused. You should seek out leadership positions in these and try to find a passion/interest in something specific. It's difficult to say what your chances are since it's still very early (we need to see SAT, honors/awards, etc.), but I'd say you're on the right track for Berkeley and UCLA. You'll need to do quite well on the SAT and SAT IIs, not to mention have great essays and ECs/awards, to have a good shot at Stanford.</p>

<p>your UC GPA is calculated incorrectly, but it is still high, with 2050+ on your SAT's you should be a match to the top UC's.</p>
