Chances at UC's, USC other Cali schools

<p>Hey guys, I'm just curious of what you guys think of my chances for my schools I'd want to go and any suggestions for other schools that might fit me. Thanks to anyone who helps out!</p>

<p>Anyway... first off here is my info:</p>

<p>GPA
Fresh: 3.5.... ehhh some colleges don't even look at that lol
Soph: 3.83 both semesters, I took ap bio
Junior: 4.0 first semester, and probably 4.5 this semester, im taking ap calc, ap chem and ap us history
senior year: im a junior right now, but im planning on taking ap stats, ap gov, ap psychology, honors physics and a class at a college next year
I also took a spanish class at a community last summer and got an A and im going to take a class on western civilization this summer as well as a Sociology class which I am confident I will get A's in both.
SATs:
1790 ... I'm getting a tutor this week and am aiming for around 2050... I'm going to work hard for that because I know its important
750 bio e
790 us history
outside of school activities:
academic decathlon 3 years
jsa 3 years
model un 3 years
peer counseling 4 years
CSF 2 years
volunteered at a local theatre (for plays, concerts etc...) for about 100+ hours for about 1 year
I have been active on eBay buying and selling mostly concert tickets for about 3 years now and have conducted probably at least 300 transactions
I work at a movie theatre currently and have been doing so for about 5 months now... around 10 once application time comes around
I've been an avid singer/songwriter/guitar player all through high school now, I've performed many times, including for charitable causes</p>

<p>I am white and jewish and go to a public high school that is semi competitive and is composed of mostly white students if that means anything....</p>

<p>I'm very interested in history, so maybe i'd major in history or poli sci... some schools i'd like to go to are:
A nice UC school (Berkeley, UCLA etc....)
USC</p>

<p>As you can see... my list of colleges aren't that long hehe.... I'm not sure of other colleges in my area (california) that would be suitable for me and my major. Any suggestions? What are my chances of getting into the colleges I've listed? Any ideas for other colleges around here that would be good for me? I've lived here in cali for a great deal of my life and love it here and would prefer to stay in the area. Thanks a bunch to anyone who replies!</p>

<p>History/political science is definitely loaded over at Berkeley, although UCSD has an up and coming political science department as well. Your SATs have to skyrocket to get considered for UCSD or Berkeley however. Otherwise there's UCSB, and UCLA is huge longshot nowadays since its the UC campus getting the most applications.</p>

<p>is it more likely that id get into berkeley or ucla if i applied undeclared in letters and science? i think you can do that right?</p>

<p>UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match</p>

<p>I am a junior at Berkeley and I think you have a a great chance of getting into any of the UC's as long as u keep up your GPA and maybe get something that will distinguish u from other appliicants in you EC's. As far as comparing UCSD's poli sci program to Berkeley I think that is a mistake. Berkeley is way better in poli sci than UCSD.</p>

<p>thanks for all the input, i'm definitly going to keep that gpa up and i think between sophmore year, junior year and my college classes ill have a 4.15 weighted uc gpa and a 3.73 uw. seems like im kinda on the border for these schools....</p>

<p>"Berkeley is way better in poli sci than UCSD."</p>

<p>If you consider 2 rankings spots way better. berkeley is ranked 5th in political science i believe and ucsd is ranked 7th. i also believe ucla is ranked 8th. there is hardly any difference as all three are clearly some of the best poli sci departments in the country.</p>

UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match</p>
