UCs only count 10th-11th grades, so your UC GPA so far is (54+13+3)/6 = 4.33. You’re only 1/4 of the way through your UC GPA courses, but you’re on the right track. Also, you still have almost two years for test prep, but try to aim for a 2100+ SAT.

Yeah I plan on taking the sat two more times (spring of junior year & fall on senior) so I’m hoping the more experience will increase my score. Thank you so much for your input!

You really need to work hard on your ACT or swhich to ACT if that did not work out.

As stated above, you are on the right track for grades, but need to get your SAT score up into the 1900+ range or above to be competitive for the Mid-tier and Top UC’s.
At the end of Junior year, calculate your UC GPA: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Repost with final test scores and then you be properly chanced.

Good Luck.

advice: UCs want all SAT scores so dont take unless you can confidently get 2100+. It seems from your grades that youre capable of the challenge…

sorry, i guess you will need 1450+ with the new test.

youre on the right track
start clubs at school, do stuff other people dont, do interesting stuff for your essays
dont stress too much
take enough aps and honors
youre fine. Cal and UCLA will be safeties for you if you truly get the grades you’re getting now, with awesome ecs.

Start your personal statment next year. Do lots of ECs, and get all A’s. Thats your ticket for top UC’s

If anyone’s gonna call me out for saying cal and ucla will be safeties, having the best track record with awesome essays will ensure your acceptance. Just dont mess up anywhere.

Thank you so much! I feel really motivated to keep this up

@ikim16: I will call you out in regards to UCLA/UCB as safeties. Every year very competitive Applicants are rejected so there is no way these schools can be safeties. Do not give OP false hope especially since they are only a Sophomore and many things good and bad can happen between now and when they apply. OP just do your best and heed some of the advice given on this forum.

ok, maybe we have different definitions of safeties
I would say that 90% of applicants like you shoot for ivys. If youre not and you want to go to B or LA and thats it, yeah thats awesome.
almost perfect grades
almost perfect SAT (if you can) im assuming you can
almost perfect ECs
really good essay.
thats what you need. I chanced based on that but no one can accurately chance since you have 2 more years. I made my judgment based on an awesome junior and senior year, which is totally possible given your grades now and
theres nothing else you can do. its just chance for here on out. Try your best these next 2 years and i really think those schools will accept you. Even though its super competitive, you are in good shape.

@ikim16 I agree with @Gumbymom in regard to UCB/UCLA as Safeties! Actually you made it even worse with your Ivies suggestion in your second post! Although, OP is in the right track but she is far away from being admitted to schools of UCB/UCLA calibar, …let alone Ivies!

alright, disregard my comments, OP.

At this point I’m not super interested in UCLA and UCB for a few reasons. Right now my dream is UCI.

PS I got my updated class rank yesterday and it’s 2. My statistics teacher has agreed that if I pass my AP Exam he’ll change my first semester grade to an A. In turn, my counselor said that should change my class rank to 1.
